Cody Martin is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 13 of the NBA season.

ANALYSIS: While his brother Caleb is busy having himself a career-year for the Miami Heat, Cody Martin is having himself a career-year for the Hornets in what must be the first time in a while that the two have played for separate teams. He has so far achieved career-high marks in every statistical category, including effective field goal percentage (55.9%) and true shooting percentage (58.6%) due to a near-20% increase in three-point efficiency to 46.8% from last year.
The best quality of Cody Martin (and Caleb) is the well-rounded game with a little extra emphasis placed on defense and passing now that his turnover rate is a bit more under control. He received additional playing time in December out of necessity for Charlotte and subsequently had his best month, averaging 11.8 points, 5.0 boards, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. In a limited January sample, while his PT has decreased back to where it was before December and he has started slightly cold from deep, he has still produced twelve assists and seven steals across those four contests. Even at a baseline he is able to produce above-average assist and steals figures, and with the improvement to his long-range shooting and the prospect of more 30+ minute stretches, Cody Martin makes for a solid addition in deeper leagues.
