Christian McCaffrey Designated To Return From IR

The Carolina Panthers designated running back Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) to return from Injured Reserve on Wednesday, meaning the team now has 21 days to officially activate him from IR. McCaffrey landed on IR in Week 6 after he aggravated a hamstring injury that he initially suffered in Week 3. The 25-year-old will return to practice this week, but he's not a lock to return in Week 9 against the New England Patriots just yet. Fantasy managers would obviously love to have CMC back in the fold as a do-it-all RB1, but the Panthers will likely be extra cautious after he's missed so much time due to injuries the last two years. Rookie Chuba Hubbard, who has been a volume-based RB2 in McCaffrey's absence, will return to backup duties once McCaffrey is ready to return.
