Ryan Newman starts from the eighth spot for the Blue Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500. The short track has not been quite so kind to him the past couple of seasons. He has finished tenth or worse in each case. His Roush Fenway Racing car just cannot get a run on this track to get near the front. As a matter of fact, Newman has not led a lap at Martinsville since 2015.
