ANALYSIS: Kenyan Drake is out for Week Nine and possibly longer, meaning that it will be Chase Edmonds heading up the Arizona Cardinals backfield in the meantime. With that shift in mind, the window of opportunity has been cracked for rookie running back Eno Benjamin to break into the Arizona offense as backup to Edmonds. As a pass-catching capable back fresh out of Arizona State, Benjamin possesses the tools to make an immediate impact in his first time on the field for his NFL career.
As a sophomore for the Sun Devils in 2018, Benjamin put up monster rushing numbers, with 1,642 yards on 300 attempts (5.5 Y/A) and 16 touchdowns, with 263 receiving yards and two touchdowns off of 35 receptions in 13 games. While his work on the ground slowed down in his junior and final season at Arizona State, rushing for 1,083 yards and ten touchdowns in 253 tries, he developed nicely as a pass-catching back, catching 42 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games. With his versatility and two-way capability opening up a wide range of possibilities for contribution, Eno Benjamin could make a solid impact in his debut games worth taking a chance on.
