Major League Baseball owners have approved a proposal that commissioner Rob Manfred plans to present to players on Tuesday on a return-to-play scenario that hopes to have baseball back in home stadiums by early July, according to sources familiar with the situation. The meeting between MLB and the Players Association on Tuesday will set the stage for what both sides expect to be a contentious negotiation. The logistics of starting the season remain very complicated and will need the player's support. Owners agreed on Monday to a plan that includes a 50-50 revenue split with the players, but money will be at the heart of the issue, and the players may not agree to anymore pay cuts. The players are expected to decline the revenue split, and the ability to strike a financial deal could mean the difference between baseball in 2020 and the season being canceled altogether. The proposal calls for an expansion of playoff teams from 10 to 14, an 82-game season, a so-called spring training that would begin in June, a universal designated hitter and geographical schedules in which teams play only in-division opponents and interleague opponents in a similar area.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
