White Sox Talking Trade For Joc Pederson
Joc Pederson, according to two people with direct knowledge of the talks. The White Sox have spent a major league-leading $123 million to retain first baseman Jose Abreu and sign catcher Yasmani Grandal so far this offseason as they attempt to contend in 2020. Chicago has also inquired about free-agent outfielder Nick Castellanos, although Pederson would come cheaper. Pederson hit a career-high 36 home runs and had 74 RBI last season. He's projected to earn $8.5 million in his final year of arbitration. While Pederson whiffs too much to carry a respectable batting average, he'll remain fantasy relevant for his power stroke. Moving to a hitter-friendly park in Chicago in an improving lineup wouldn't be bad news for his fantasy value moving forward.
