New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes left Sunday’s game against the San Diego Padres with a thumb injury, so naturally fantasy owners anticipated the worst. Fortunately, that won’t be the case. Cespedes is being listed as day-to-day with a sore left thumb after sliding into third base on Sunday, which was actually his second stolen base of the day. With the Mets’ off day on Monday, it’s reasonable to think Yo will be back in the lineup for the start of Tuesday’s divisional series against the Atlanta Braves. Despite 25 RBI thus far, good enough for second in the National League, Cespedes has been off to a slow start average wise. However, he’s picked it up in recent days with a six-game hitting streak, including multiple base knocks in two.--John Smith
