New York Yankees outfielder
Jasson Dominguez had a night to remember on Friday, going 3-for-4 with three homers and seven RBI. Dominguez could not be stopped in this one, hitting solo shots in the third and seventh innings before capping the night off with a grand slam in the eighth. After a slow start to the season, the 22-year-old is suddenly back to solid overall numbers after this monster game. He has a .250 AVG, 20 runs, five homers, 19 RBI, and three swipes in 108 at-bats. Dominguez hasn't been playing every day, but still gets plenty of playing time and hits in a stacked lineup. He should be rostered in standard-size leagues just in case he lives up to his potential, and Friday is a reminder of his sky-high upside.

Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher
Gavin Williams allowed four hits and no runs across five innings of work in Friday's 6-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. The East Carolina alum struck out eight and walked four while improving to 3-2 on the year. Williams again dealt with command issues, hurling 53 of 98 pitches for strikes and walking at least four batters for the second straight start. On the bright side, he's struck out 17 batters over that time, so it hasn't all been bad. Still, command like that will continue to limit his upside and force him from starts early. The 25-year-old's underlying metrics aren't all that inspiring, but he'd be an interesting fantasy asset if he could get the free passes under control. Look for him to line up against the Milwaukee Brewers or the Cincinnati Reds in the middle of next week.

Minnesota Twins pitcher
Chris Paddack allowed three hits and one earned run over 7 2/3 innings in his team's 3-1 win over the San Francisco Giants on Friday. The 29-year-old struck out six and walked none for the first time in 2025, earning his first quality start and win. Paddack had done well to limit damage against him coming into today, but had walked two or more batters in five of seven starts, so it was nice to see him display some control. It was the first time that he'd gone longer than five innings in any of his starts. He looked superb early on in this one, and it's worth noting that his fastball was up a few ticks against the Giants. We'll see if an extra bit of velocity is enough to make him relevant again after years of subpar performance following a promising rookie campaign. He'll square off against the Orioles in their first series next week.

New York Mets starting pitcher
Clay Holmes allowed three hits and one earned run over six innings pitched in Friday's 7-2 win over the Chicago Cubs. Holmes struck out five and walked three while earning his third-straight win to improve to 5-1 on the season. He bolstered a solid 30% CSW with nine swings-and-misses -- five with his sinker. The 32-year-old cruised through three innings unscathed before Chicago's
Kyle Tucker tagged him for a solo shot in the top of the fourth inning. That'd be the lone tally against him, though, as he continues to pitch well for the Mets. He'll carry a fantastic 2.74 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with a 44:16 K:BB ratio (42 2/3 innings) into his next start, which should come early next week at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates. However, it's possible he doesn't toe the rubber again until the following series with the Yankees, considering the Mets have been running him out on five days of rest.

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher
Erick Fedde allowed six hits and no runs over nine innings in Friday's 10-0 win over the Washington Nationals. The 32-year-old struck out eight batters and walked none in the first complete game and shutout of his MLB career. It was easily the best start of the season for him and marked the first time he'd punched out more than four batters. Fedde hammered in 68 of 109 pitches for strikes and had previously not gone longer than six innings in any outing. The Las Vegas native scattered six hits (one double) and allowed no runs for the second time in 2025. He'll have a much tougher task in his next start, which projects to come on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies early next week. Despite the dominant showing against Washington, he'll be difficult to trust moving forward.

Francisco Lindor went 3-for-5 with a home run in his team's 7-2 victory against the Chicago Cubs. The superstar switch-hitter singled and scored twice, adding his fifth stolen base of the campaign. Lindor started the scoring for New York with a 388-foot shot off Cubs pitcher
Jameson Taillon to lead off the bottom of the first inning. The long ball was his eighth, and second in his last four outings, as he continues to enjoy a fantastic start to 2025. He's up to a .297 average to go along with seven doubles, 26 runs scored, and 25 RBI. If the former first-round pick is set to take off in the summer months as he usually does, he could be in store for a monster season. Friday marked his second straight multi-hit effort and third in his last five.

The San Francisco 49ers waived former second-round defensive end Drake Jackson (knee) with a failed-physical designation on Friday, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Jackson continues to rehab a knee injury but is expected to be cleared by the start of training camp this summer. The Niners also waived offensive lineman Jalen McKenzie and cornerback Tre Tomlinson after signing offensive linemen Andre Dillard and Nicholas Petit-Frere and cornerback Dallis Flowers. Jackson, 24, the 61st overall pick in 2022 out of USC, missed the final 12 games of the 2023 season, including the postseason, and all of the 2024 campaign due to his knee injury. In his first two seasons before the injury, he had only 21 tackles (12 solo), six sacks, five tackles for loss, nine QB hits, an interception and nine pass breakups in 23 games (no starts).

The San Francisco 49ers signed offensive lineman Andre Dillard, cornerback Dallis Flowers and offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere to undisclosed one-year deals on Friday, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's Jennifer Lee Chan. Dillard appeared in 10 games (no starts) for the Green Bay Packers in 2024 but was unable to play in the wild-card playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles due to a concussion. The 29-year-old offensive lineman was the 22nd overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft by the Eagles out of Washington State, but he'll now compete for a reserve tackle role in the Bay Area for the 2025 campaign. Dillard spent the first three years of his NFL career in Philadelphia before joining the Tennessee Titans in 2023 and the Packers a season ago.

Former Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants linebacker Jaylon Smith, who last played in the NFL in 2023, is taking part in the Las Vegas Raiders' minicamp this weekend on a tryout basis, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Smith was a second-round selection (34th overall) in 2016 out of Notre Dame and had 100-plus total tackles in three of his first four NFL seasons with Dallas, earning his lone Pro Bowl selection in 2019. He has bounced around the league and dealt with injuries since leaving the Cowboys, but he did have 88 total tackles (46 solo) and a sack in 13 games (11 starts) with the Giants in 2022. He only played in one game with Vegas in 2023 and was briefly on the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad last year, but he didn't see any action. The 29-year-old would give the Raiders some additional linebacker depth if he reunites with them.

The New Orleans Saints signed rookie first-round offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. to a four-year, $27.7 million deal on Friday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Saints passed on a quarterback in the first round and instead took Banks with the ninth overall pick out of Texas. The 21-year-old should help stabilize the Saints' starting right tackle spot in the long term after Ryan Ramczyk retired. He has the size (6-foot-5, 315 pounds) and athleticism to be a Pro Bowl tackle in the long run, but it remains to be seen if he'll earn a starting gig at right tackle out of the gates in his first NFL season in 2025. It will all depend on how Trevor Penning, who has disappointed so far in his career, looks during training camp and the preseason.

The Atlanta Falcons signed rookie first-round linebacker Jalon Walker to his four-year deal on Friday, the team announced. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it's estimated to be $20.56 million in total value. He would carry salary cap number of $3.74 million this year before topping out at $6.54 million in 2028. In addition to Walker, rookie safety Xavier Watts, defensive back Billy Bowman Jr. and offensive tackle Jack Nelson signed their rookie deals. Atlanta took Walker with the 15th overall pick in this year's draft out of Georgia. It remains to be seen if the Falcons will use the 6-foot-1, 243-pounder as an inside linebacker or as a pass-rushing outside linebacker in his first year in the NFL. In 11 starts with the Bulldogs in 2024, the 21-year-old had 60 tackles (10.5 for loss), 6.5 sacks and two pass breakups.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Friday that they signed third-round rookie running back Kale Johnson to his four-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Steelers took Johnson out of the University of Iowa with the 83rd overall pick. "Really explosive running back that we spent some time with on a 30 visit here," said offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. "One of the more instinctive backs that I've watched in a couple of years coming out of the draft." In 35 career games (22 starts) for the Hawkeyes, Johnson had 508 carries for 2,779 yards and 30 touchdowns, adding 29 catches for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Lil'Jordan Humphrey on Friday, a source told The Athletic's Dan Duggan. Humphrey will head right back to the free-agent market after signing with the G-Men in late March. Humphrey posted career-highs in catches (31), targets (45) and receiving yards (293) while catching one touchdown pass in 17 regular-season games (seven starts) in his second year with the Denver Broncos in 2024. The 27-year-old was set to serve as wideout depth in the Big Apple this year, but he has lost his roster spot after the Giant recently signed five undrafted rookie free-agent wideouts. Humphrey should latch on with another team as receiver depth. In six NFL seasons, Humphrey has produced only 62 receptions for 770 yards and seven touchdowns on 92 targets over 58 games played (23 starts).

Will Vest was called upon to hold a one-run lead against the Texas Rangers on Friday. The Tigers elected to use
Tommy Kahnle in the eighth inning and give Vest the final frame in this game. Vest was getting more save chances earlier in the season, but this was his first chance this month. He was able to throw a scoreless inning and strike out one batter as he recorded his fourth save of the season. He has been excellent with a 2.12 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 19/7 K/BB ratio across 17 innings of work this season. He isn't a must-have fantasy option because he's not the primary closer, but Vest has been putting up good numbers this season.

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher
Tarik Skubal was excellent on the mound during Friday's outing against the Texas Rangers. The southpaw retired the first 15 batters he faced before giving up a single in the sixth inning. The Rangers would evenutally push across a run, but it was still an incredible performance by Skubal. The reigning CY Young award winner tossed seven innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, while striking out 12 batters. The left-hander has now struck out 11 batters or more in two of his last three starts. He'll take a 2.08 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 60/5 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Boston Red Sox. Yes, that is correct, Skubal has only five walks on the season and hasn't walked in a batter in three straight starts. He obviously needs to be rostered and started in all fantasy formats.

Evan Phillips (elbow) was recently placed on the 15-day injured list due to forearm discomfort. An MRI revealed that Phillips is dealing with elbow inflammation, so he'll likely be sidelined longer than expected. For now, Phillips will be shut down for the next two weeks before hopefully beginning a throwing program. That being said, Phillips might not be back on the mound until some point in June. Before going down, Phillips threw 5.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts and one save in seven appearances. There should be a better timetable on him in a few weeks.

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that infielder
Jordan Westburg's hamstring is still bothering him and he likely won't start a minor-league rehab assignment until late next week now. Westburg is being delayed slightly after being put on the 10-day injured list on April 28 with a strained left hamstring. Still, if the 26-year-old looks good on his rehab assignment, he might only need several games before being activated back to the big-league roster. Although he was hitting just .217 (20-for-98) with four homers and six RBI in 23 games at the time of his injury, Westburg should be the team's starting third baseman again when he's cleared to return.
Ramon Urias (hamstring) is also on the IL and prospect
Coby Mayo was just sent back to the minors, so
Emmanuel Rivera is in line for regular playing time at the hot corner until Westburg returns.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder
Colton Cowser (thumb) played catch on the field before Friday's series opener in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels and is officially doing baseball activities, according to The Baltimore Sun's Matt Weyrich. Cowser fractured his left thumb early in the regular season and landed on the 10-day injured list. He has since been moved to the 60-day IL. It's good to see the 25-year-old doing baseball activities, but he still has a ways to go before he'll be cleared to swing a bat, so it's unlikely that he'll be able to make his season debut with the O's until sometime in June. Cowser went 2-for-16 with a homer and an RBI in his first four games this year before getting hurt. Baltimore's outfield is crowded, but Cowser finished second in American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2024 and should at least play regularly against right-handers when he returns in 2025.

Tommy Edman (ankle) is still dealing with some discomfort in his ankle when doing straight-line running, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. Edman is scheduled for live at-bats next week. The Dodgers placed the 30-year-old on the 10-day injured list on April 30 with an injured right ankle. He's already eligible to return from the IL, but he won't be able to rejoin the big-league club for the rest of their weekend series in Arizona against the division-rival Diamondbacks. Before his injury, the versatile switch-hitter was batting .252/.295/.523 with an .818 OPS, eight home runs, 24 RBI, 19 runs scored and two stolen bases in 111 at-bats. Edman is on pace for a career-high in homers and he should continue to be productive in runs and RBI when he returns to L.A.
Hyeseong Kim and

Freddy Peralta (groin), who tweaked his groin at the end of his last start against the Chicago Cubs on May 4, threw a bullpen session on Friday and didn't report any problems, according to manager Pat Murphy. Peralta is now scheduled to start on Monday against the Guardians again in Cleveland. Right-hander
Chad Patrick will slide up a day to start Sunday's series finale against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 28-year-old still managed six shutout innings with one walk and seven strikeouts in his last outing against the Cubs to secure his fourth win of the season. Peralta has been magnificent for fantasy baseball managers in his first eight starts of 2025, going 4-2 with a 2.18 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 48 strikeouts in 45 1/3 innings. The Dominican will be going up against a Guardians offense that is middle of the pack in terms of team OPS (.697).

The Chicago White Sox are expected to promote first baseman
Tim Elko to the MLB roster prior to Saturday's contest against the Miami Marlins. Elko has yet to appear in an MLB contest. Through the early part of the 2025 campaign, the Ole Miss product has been swinging a hot bat at Triple-A Charlotte. Across 31 games, Elko has posted a stellar .348/.431/.670 slash line with six doubles and 10 home runs. During this stint, Elko tallied 23 RBI and scored 20 runs. Last summer, Elko also enjoyed success at Triple-A, holding a strong .289/.361/.472 slash line across his first 48 games at the level. Given his impressive start to the campaign, Elko could carve out a role in the Chicago offense. For now, fantasy managers in 15+ team formats should consider adding Elko, given his early-season success at Triple-A.

The Cuban outfielder has performed pretty much as expected through his first 130 at-bats with a low average .231 and modest power production (six homers, 16 RBI) in his first year with the Halos.

Cincinnati Reds right-handed pitching prospect
Connor Phillips (shoulder) has been activated off the 7-day injured list at Triple-A. Phillips was dealing with shoulder fatigue. He made three rehab appearances with High-A Dayton and allowed three hits with one run. He struck out six batters. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut during the 2023 campaign and posted a high 6.27 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP. Last summer, Phillips spent the entire campaign with the Louisville Bats and struggled as well, posting a career-high worst 8.01 ERA with a 2.02 WHIP. During this stint, he struck out just 77 batters and served up a high 60 walks. Fantasy managers should expect the No. 15-ranked prospect in the system to return to the starting rotation at Triple-A.

Logan Gilbert (elbow) was scheduled to play catch again on Friday and could throw off the mound by the end of the team's current homestand next Wednesday, May 14, according to general manager Justin Hollander. Gilbert landed on the 15-day injured list with a Grade 1 flexor strain in his right elbow, but barring a setback, the M's are hoping that he'll be able to rejoin their starting rotation by the end of May. The 28-year-old was shut down from throwing for two weeks and will now begin building up his arm. When healthy, Gilbert is a high-end fantasy starter, so he needs to remain stashed in an IL spot in all leagues. The former 14th overall pick in 2018 out of Stetson went 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA and 0.79 WHIP with 44 strikeouts and only six walks in six starts over 30 1/3 innings this year before getting hurt.
