Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 16:
Quinshon Judkins, RB, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins had the backfield to himself during Sunday's 31-3 loss to the Chicago Bears, but he only managed to turn his 12 rushing attempts into 21 yards. Judkins continued his involvement in the Browns' anemic passing offense with four targets, but his three receptions resulted in a net loss of four yards.
This is the second straight week Judkins has failed to gain more than 30 yards, and he was kept out of the end zone in Chicago. The Cleveland Browns face the Buffalo Bills in Week 16, who have recently struggled to defend the run. With fellow rookie running back Dylan Sampson (calf, hand) still managing injuries, Judkins should see the majority of the backfield workload again in a more favorable matchup.
Woody Marks, RB, Houston Texans
Houston Texans rookie running back Woody Marks (ankle) aggravated an ankle injury in Sunday's win over the visiting Arizona Cardinals and didn't finish the game, but head coach DeMeco Ryans later said that Marks could have continued playing, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. Practice-squad RB Jawhar Jordan rushed for 101 yards on 15 carries in Week 15 in his NFL debut after Marks left in the 40-20 win.
Dare Ogunbowale and Jordan combined for 143 rushing yards on 33 carries -- Nick Chubb (ribs) was inactive. Marks finished with 30 yards on seven carries, but he salvaged his day for fantasy managers with a goal-line touchdown before aggravating his ankle injury. The 24-year-old will almost certainly be on the Week 16 injury report, but it sounds like he will have a chance to play and serve as the team's lead back in a great matchup next Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
TreVeyon Henderson, RB, New England Patriots
New England Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson totaled over 150 yards from scrimmage with two touchdowns during their loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon. On the ground, the second-round pick out of Ohio State took 14 attempts for 148 yards and two scores. Both of his touchdowns came on long rushes for 52 yards and 65 yards, respectively. Through the air, Henderson brought in two of his three targets for an additional 13 yards.
Even though Henderson ceded six carries and three targets to Rhamondre Stevenson, Henderson still operated as the lead back and flashed much higher upside. Managers should continue to view the rookie as a high-end must-start RB2 in all formats, even if he continues to share opportunities with Stevenson, ahead of a tilt against the Ravens in Week 16
Jayden Higgins, WR, Houston Texans
Houston Texans rookie wide receiver Jayden Higgins was held to just one target for the fifth time this season in Sunday's 40-20 blowout win over the visiting Arizona Cardinals. He caught one pass for a gain of four yards. The 23-year-old has four receptions on six targets for just 38 yards and no touchdowns in the last two games. The last time that Higgins had only one target came on Nov. 2 against the Denver Broncos. Higgins had a streak of five games with at least five targets from Weeks 9 to 14 before seeing just one look from quarterback C.J. Stroud on Sunday.
The second-rounder from Iowa State ranks third on the team with 397 receiving yards in 14 games this year, adding four touchdowns. While Higgins has been quiet the last two games, he's a good bet to bounce back with a strong game for fantasy managers in deeper leagues as a flex play in an excellent Week 16 matchup against the last-place Raiders. Higgins is rostered in 43% of Yahoo leagues, so he's widely available.
Luther Burden III, WR, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson said on Monday that rookie wide receiver Luther Burden III's ankle is a "day-by-day" situation, according to Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune. Biggs goes on to write that it sounds like Burden's availability for Saturday night's divisional clash against the Green Bay Packers "will remain a question until later in the week." Chicago's receiving room could be thin in Week 16 after Burden got hurt in Sunday's win over the visiting Cleveland Browns.
Fellow wideout Rome Odunze is dealing with a stress fracture in his foot and is in danger of missing a third straight game this weekend. If both Burden and Odunze are inactive against Green Bay, Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Duvernay would start in three-wide sets next to DJ Moore. In two games with Odunze out, Burden has 10 grabs for 151 yards on 13 targets, which makes him flex-worthy in Week 16 if he's active and Odunze misses another contest.
