Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 14:

Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton found the end zone and scored for the first time since Week 9 in a close 27-26 overtime win against the Washington Commanders. Coming off the bye week, Sutton rewarded those who started him with five catches on six targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's OT victory. Even more surprisingly, Sutton did this while being third on the team in targets.

The 30-year-old was behind tight end Evan Engram (nine) and Pat Bryant (seven), and ahead of the supposed new alpha receiver of the group, Troy Franklin, who had just three targets. With the Las Vegas Raiders on tap again for the upcoming week, Sutton will look to redeem himself after having only three catches for 24 yards against them in Week 10. Fantasy managers can start Sutton with confidence as he's a low-end WR2 in a plus matchup vs. Las Vegas entering Week 14.

Josh Jacobs, RB, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (knee) is off the injury report following a full practice session on Friday, and he'll be good to go for the Packers' Week 14 matchup with the Chicago Bears. Jacobs has been an awesome fantasy option this season, but last week was one of his least-productive fantasy outings with just 10.1 fantasy points.

Week 13 marks just the second game in which Jacobs played the full game and didn't get in the end zone. That's how seemingly automatic Jacobs has been this season, and as the engine of the Packers' offense, Jacobs should be in a good position to do well against a middle-of-the-road Bears' run defense. Jacobs is a locked-in RB1 fantasy option in Week 14.

RJ Harvey, RB, Denver Broncos

When asked on Wednesday about running back RJ Harvey, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton hinted that the rookie has not yet been fully unleashed and has a "rare running skill set." "There's that saying, 'You haven't seen anything yet,'" Payton noted to reporters. The 24-year-old has kept his fantasy value afloat with touchdowns while finding little room to work on the ground. Fortunately, Harvey has carved out a decent role in the passing game, picking up at least three targets in all but four outings.

Payton's insinuation suggests the rookie is set to take off like a rocket ship, but he'll need to improve his efficiency as a rusher before that becomes a reality. Even with all that said, Harvey's workload has remained steady, and he has the athletic profile to be a successful NFL and fantasy asset. Look for him to continue improving this Sunday in a road clash with the Raiders. He's a high-end RB2 for that outing.

Bam Knight, RB, Arizona Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals running back Bam Knight had his most productive game of the season in Week 13, totaling 98 scrimmage yards and a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Injuries have decimated the Cardinals' running back room, including starter James Conner (leg), primary backup Trey Benson (knee), and Emari Demercado (ankle), which has forced Knight to step up.

With Benson still not practicing ahead of Week 14's game against the Los Angeles Rams, Knight may have to carry the workload again. A tough matchup is on deck for the Cardinals, as they face a Rams defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to running backs this season. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Benson's status, as Knight could be a solid FLEX play despite the tough matchup in Week 14.

Troy Franklin, WR, Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos wide receiver Troy Franklin took a step backward in the offense on a night when quarterback Bo Nix attempted 45 passes in their 27-26 overtime win against the Washington Commanders. Franklin averaged nine targets per game in the five games before the bye week, but regressed to having just three in Week 13, catching two of them for 21 yards and no touchdowns.

Perhaps the resurgence of tight end Evan Engram (nine targets) stifled Franklin's production for what could've been a one-off dud, but this will be something to watch as the team is coming off their bye week. Franklin had five catches for 40 yards and a touchdown while facing the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 10, so he will look to replicate that at least for Week 14.
