Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 14:
Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington Commanders
Despite a tough matchup with last year's Defensive Player of the Year, cornerback Patrick Surtain, McLaurin had his best game of the season, catching seven of his 14 targets for 96 yards and a touchdown. He did it while playing just over half of the offensive snaps. It also came with backup quarterback Marcus Mariota running the offense.
Three of his seven grabs went for over 15 yards, signaling that Scary Terry might be back when it matters the most in fantasy. McLaurin heads into another tough matchup on the road against the Vikings in Week 14 -- they've allowed the second-fewest half-PPR points to WRs this year -- but he has WR2 upside as Washington's clear WR1.
Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos
Even more surprisingly, Sutton did this while being third on the team in targets. The 30-year-old was behind tight end Evan Engram (nine) and Pat Bryant (seven), and ahead of the supposed new alpha receiver of the group, Troy Franklin, who had just three targets.
With the Las Vegas Raiders on tap again for the upcoming week, Sutton will look to redeem himself after having only three catches for 24 yards against them in Week 10. Fantasy managers can start Sutton with confidence as he's a low-end WR2 in a plus matchup vs. Las Vegas entering Week 14.
Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers
He's averaged just 6.8 fantasy points per game in the four-game stretch starting in Week 10, and is averaging three receptions and 25 yards per game. Doubs has taken a backseat to not just the running game, but also Christian Watson, who has exceeded Doubs' production in recent weeks.
With the impending return of Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden into the Packers' wide receiver rotation, Doubs' production could be a bit more sporadic. Against the Chicago Bears in Week 14, Doubs is still a low-end flex option, but one that's much harder to trust than in the middle of the season.
Keenan Allen, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert's fractured non-throwing hand resulted in a more conservative game script (21 passes versus 43 rushes), further limiting Allen's upside. Heading into Week 14, the Philadelphia Eagles have shown vulnerabilities in back-to-back losses but still rank in the top 10 in pass defense, and Herbert's availability after surgery remains uncertain.
If Trey Lance starts, all receivers' outlooks decline, although Allen's reliability might make him the backup's preferred safety valve. Nonetheless, expectations should stay low.
Darnell Mooney, WR, Atlanta Falcons
It's been a disappointing year for the former Chicago Bear, as he has yet to record five or more catches in a game after doing so seven times in 16 games last year. The Atlanta offense isn't as effective with Kirk Cousins under center in place of Michael Penix Jr., either, but Mooney was still expected to take on a larger role in London's absence.
Mooney is just a fringe top-40 option at wide receiver at this point in the season, especially with London potentially returning as early as Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks. Mooney is probably only worth a starting lineup spot in fantasy football this weekend if London misses another game.
