Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 14:
Marcus Mariota, QB, Washington Commanders
Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota has played great while filling in for an injured Jayden Daniels (elbow). Mariota and the Commanders nearly pulled off the upset against the Denver Broncos in Week 13, with Mariota completing 28 of 50 passes for 294 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while adding 10 carries for 55 yards on the ground.
It was a valiant effort against one of the top defenses in the league that continued a trend of the 32-year-old signal-caller playing well. Daniels reportedly has a chance to return in Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings, but he has not yet been cleared for contact.
More will be known about Daniels' status in practice this week, but if he needs more time, Mariota would be in line to make his seventh start of the season and would profile as a strong streaming option again versus the Vikings.
Sam Darnold, QB, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said on Seattle Sports on Monday that quarterback Sam Darnold (ankle) had a little bit of an ankle issue during Sunday's blowout win over the Minnesota Vikings, but that he "should be good to go" for Week 14 against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune.
Darnold was seen going into the medical tent on the sideline several times on Sunday, but the injury wasn't serious, and it shouldn't keep the 28-year-old from playing this weekend. He didn't need to do much in the easy 26-0 win over the Vikings, as Darnold went 14-for-26 passing for a season-low 128 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions in Week 13.
Sam Darnold should be able to bounce back against Atlanta and will be in play as a QB streamer in fantasy football as long as he doesn't aggravate his ankle issue.
C.J. Stroud, QB, Houston Texans
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud returned to the field in Week 13 after missing three games with a concussion and completed 22 of 35 pass attempts for 276 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception against the Indianapolis Colts.
Across nine games this season, Stroud has completed 66.1% of his pass attempts for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions. However, the Texans have turned to a much more pass-heavy approach in recent weeks. Over his last three full games, Stroud is averaging 41 pass attempts per contest.
The high-volume approach gives Stroud an opportunity for fantasy production every week, even if Houston's offense struggles to be efficient. In deeper fantasy leagues, Stroud could be a solid streaming option at the quarterback position heading into a Week 14 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Justin Herbert, QB, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (left hand) had a plate and multiple screws put in his hand in surgery. Herbert suffered a broken left hand in Week 13's win over the Las Vegas Raiders and underwent surgery on Monday, and reports say that it was successful. Herbert reiterated on Wednesday that the plan is to play in Week 14 when the Chargers host the Philadelphia Eagles.
The star quarterback has been excellent in 2025, currently averaging 19.1 fantasy points per game, which ranks as the QB8. The Chargers are fighting for a playoff spot and will need to finish strong to fend off the likes of the Chiefs, Bills, and other teams. Fantasy managers should prepare as if Herbert will be able to play in Week 14.
UPDATE: Herbert says he's day-to-day, and his status for Monday depends on the swelling in his surgically-repaired left hand.
Shedeur Sanders, QB, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has had some impressive moments in his first two career starts. Sanders threw the second touchdown of his career to fellow rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. in Cleveland's Week 13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers while completing 16 of his 25 pass attempts for 149 yards and taking three sacks for a loss of 34 yards.
The rookie fifth-rounder didn't turn the ball over for the first time, and head coach Kevin Stefanski has been pleased with his progress so far. The Colorado product has already been named the starting quarterback for Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans, setting up a matchup between Sanders and first overall pick Cameron Ward.
Sanders is still far from being considered for fantasy purposes outside of deep and superflex leagues, but he'll look to solidify his role as the team's starter for the remainder of the season in a plus matchup.
Kirk Cousins, QB, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 21 of his 33 passes for 234 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Jets. The 37-year-old looked Kyle Pitts Sr.'s way most often (eight targets), which has been the case in each of his three starts this season, but again spread the ball around, with seven different receivers earning two or more targets, and he also found David Sills V for a touchdown pass for the second straight week.
The veteran QB draws a tough matchup in Week 14 as the Falcons host the Seahawks in Atlanta, a defense that has been in the bottom third in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks.
It will at least be a home matchup, and there is still a chance that the team's No. 1 receiver, Drake London (knee), will return for Sunday's contest. Even so, Cousins figures to be in the lower end of the QB2 ranks in Week 14.
Aaron Rodgers, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (wrist) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice, according to Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun. Rodgers, who is playing through three fractures in his left (non-throwing) wrist, will probably be limited early in the week for the rest of the season.
The 42-year-old future Hall of Famer is expected to be active again this weekend for a crucial divisional contest against the Baltimore Ravens, but he might not do much in practice this week. The good news for Rodgers is that he didn't do any damage to his left wrist by playing in the Week 13 loss to the Buffalo Bills, and he appears to be in better shape going into Week 14 despite being battered and bloodied last Sunday.
Rodgers hasn't thrown for over 200 yards in a game since Nov. 2 and has limited weapons in the passing game outside of receiver DK Metcalf. He will be a low-upside fantasy QB on the QB2/3 borderline versus Baltimore.
Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Miami Dolphins
Across 12 games this season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has completed 67.2% of his pass attempts for 2,280 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. While the 27-year-old's numbers do not jump off the page, Miami has played its best football in recent weeks, winning three straight games and four out of its last five heading into Week 14.
Tagovailoa should have an opportunity to post solid numbers in a favorable matchup in Week 14 against the New York Jets. In his first matchup against New York back in Week 4, Tagovailoa threw for 177 yards and two touchdowns. His lack of rushing ability limits his fantasy upside.
However, in deeper fantasy leagues or two-quarterback formats, Tagovailoa could be a solid streaming option off the waiver wire in Week 14.
