Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 14:
Kimani Vidal, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal bounced back in a big way during Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders. In Week 11, Vidal posted a season-low 13 yards in the loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 24-year-old came ready to play out of the bye week this weekend.
His biggest play of the game came in the third quarter when he rushed 59 yards for a score to give his team the lead. Vidal ended this game with a season-high 126 rushing yards on 25 attempts with one touchdown in the win.
It remains to be seen how the workload is going to be split up once Omarion Hampton (ankle) returns to the mix. Fantasy managers will need to check back throughout the week to see how that situation shakes out ahead of Week 14.
Jordan Addison, WR, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison ended Sunday's shutout loss at Seattle with five catches for 36 yards on a team-best 10 targets. At the end of the day, it was yet another horrific showing from the Minnesota offense, which started undrafted rookie Max Brosmer at quarterback.
The rookie threw four interceptions, including one for a touchdown, as the Vikings were shut out for the first time since 2007. Addison, for his part, had multiple drops but cobbled together a few late catches from a day in which the Vikings gained only 162 yards.
Addison may see another quarterback change next week if J.J. McCarthy (concussion) can return, though managers can't be faulted for not trusting the Vikings' offense ahead of a Week 14 game against Washington.
Ladd McConkey, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey caught four passes for 39 yards and one touchdown, leading the team with six targets during their 31-14 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. With Justin Herbert managing a fractured non-throwing hand sustained early in the game, the Chargers relied heavily on the run game.
They kept most throws short behind PFF's league-worst offensive line, limiting big-play opportunities for all Bolts' receivers. Still, McConkey's continued involvement in the red zone is encouraging. Next Monday night, a top-10 secondary from the Philadelphia Eagles awaits, and Herbert's status remains uncertain.
If Trey Lance starts, all pass catchers could see reduced production. However, Philly's defense has been notably vulnerable to slot receivers, giving McConkey a potential upside as the most natural fit to exploit their weakness.
Tre Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker only had three catches for 20 yards in Week 13 against the Chargers, but he still served as the team's No. 1 wide receiver, playing 96% of snaps. No other receiver played more than 56% of snaps, and Tucker's three targets were behind only RB Ashton Jeanty's and TE Brock Bowers' target totals.
Tucker had been even busier in the previous two weeks, drawing 18 targets in those two games from Geno Smith. He has multiple catches in each of his 12 games this season, totaling 44 catches for 550 yards and five touchdowns.
The third-year receiver should stay very involved as the Raiders' top wide receiver moving forward, but he has tough matchups in Week 14 against the Broncos and Week 16 against the Texans. He does have potential upside, but will remain unreliable since the Raiders' offense has been scuffling so badly in recent weeks.
Darnell Mooney, WR, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney failed to take advantage of Drake London (knee) being out of the lineup in Week 13 against the New York Jets, recording just two receptions for 25 yards on five targets. The 28-year-old easily had his best game of the season in Week 12 against the Saints with London out, hauling in all three targets for 74 yards and a touchdown, but he didn't find the same success on Sunday despite a favorable matchup.
It's been a disappointing year for the former Chicago Bear, as he has yet to record five or more catches in a game after doing so seven times in 16 games last year. The Atlanta offense isn't as effective with Kirk Cousins under center in place of Michael Penix Jr., either, but Mooney was still expected to take on a larger role in London's absence.
Mooney is just a fringe top-40 option at wide receiver at this point in the season, especially with London potentially returning as early as Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks. Mooney is probably only worth a starting lineup spot in fantasy football this weekend if London misses another game.
