Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 10:
Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders rookie first-round running back Ashton Jeanty had another mediocre performance on the ground in the team's Week 9 overtime loss to the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, but he salvaged his day for fantasy managers by catching all five of his targets for 47 yards and a touchdown through the air.
On the ground, Jeanty handled a team-high 13 carries for 42 yards (3.2 yards per carry). The 21-year-old was able to bounce back coming out of the bye week after he had a season-low six carries for 21 yards and only one catch for 13 yards in the Week 7 blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
It's been slow going for Jeanty the last three games behind a shaky Raiders offensive line, and things won't get any easier on a short week on Thursday Night Football against a stout Denver Broncos defense in Week 10. Through his first eight NFL games, Jeanty has three rushing scores and three receiving touchdowns.
Colston Loveland, TE, Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears rookie tight end Colston Loveland finally had the breakout game fantasy managers have been waiting for in Week 9, recording six catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns on seven targets in his team's 47-42 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The 21-year-old has now hauled in 17 receptions for 234 yards and two scores on 25 targets across his first seven NFL games.
Bears tight end Cole Kmet (concussion) was forced to leave the game early due to a concussion, which certainly helped Loveland play a career-high 65 offensive snaps. Still, Loveland's usage and target share are trending in the right direction for his fantasy production as Chicago hits the second half of its season.
The Bears have a favorable matchup in Week 10 against the New York Giants, so Loveland could profile as a top-12 fantasy tight end if Kmet is unable to play. Either way, Loveland is a player to target on the waiver wire in fantasy leagues where he remains available.
Jaxson Dart, QB, New York Giants
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart completed 24 of his 33 pass attempts for 191 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 9 loss against the San Francisco 49ers. He also registered eight rushing attempts for 56 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
The rookie sensation has played quite well despite New York's 2-7 record; he has 11 total touchdowns and just one interception over his last four games. In fact, he has scored a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown in four straight contests.
Even if the Giants continue to lose, Dart should be started in most fantasy leagues. He's a mid-to-low QB1 for Week 10 against the Chicago Bears, who just surrendered 470 yards and four touchdowns to Joe Flacco.
Dylan Sampson, RB, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Dylan Sampson has recorded 184 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 48 touches across the first eight games of his NFL career. Coming out of Cleveland's Week 9 bye, Sampson could be his team's RB1.
Star Browns rookie Quinshon Judkins (shoulder) suffered an AC joint sprain in his shoulder in Week 8 that could keep him sidelined in Week 10 when Cleveland takes on the New York Jets. Even if Judkins misses Week 10, Sampson would likely still split backfield work with veteran back Jerome Ford.
Still, Sampson has definite fantasy appeal as the potential lead back in a very favorable matchup against the Jets. Fantasy managers in PPR-scoring leagues with 12 or more teams should target Sampson on the waiver wire leading into Week 10.
Oronde Gadsden, TE, Los Angeles Chargers
Up next is a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has been one of the league's weakest against tight ends, allowing the sixth-most yards and tying for the second-most touchdowns to the position. They did, however, hold Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren to only 26 receiving yards on Sunday.
With Justin Herbert likely forced into short, quick throws behind a depleted offensive line, Gadsden could thrive once again. He's shaping up as a mid-range TE1 with legit upside heading into Week 10.
