Fantasy Football Drop Candidates
Read the recent news and fantasy outlooks of some of the top cut candidates:
Jayden Daniels, QB - Washington Commanders (Cut List Ranking No. 10)
John Keim of ESPN reported that the Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) suffered a dislocated left elbow during the fourth quarter of Sunday night's 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, sources told ESPN. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the diagnosis and help determine a recovery timeline.
Daniels is expected to be sidelined indefinitely, but it is uncertain whether his season is over, according to sources. This is a gut-wrenching injury for the Commanders and Daniels fantasy owners, as the injury occurred late in the game of a 38-7 blowout. Marcus Mariota will return under center for the Commanders, limiting the offense's upside for players like Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Deebo Samuel Sr.
Mariota can be trusted as a QB2 for those in two-QB or superflex leagues due to his rushing upside. Fantasy managers will want to continue to keep tabs on Daniels' recovery timeline as more news is reported.
Tucker Kraft, TE - Green Bay Packers (Cut List Ranking No. 1)
The Green Bay Packers fear that tight end Tucker Kraft (knee) tore his ACL during Sunday's Week 9 loss against the Carolina Panthers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. If tests confirm this diagnosis, Kraft will be done for the season. This is a brutal loss for the Packers, as Kraft was off to a spectacular start this season with 32 catches, 489 yards, and six touchdowns through eight games.
He had been the overall TE2 in fantasy football so far. With Kraft likely shut down for the rest of the season, Luke Musgrave will take over as the Packers' starting tight end next week against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Travis Hunter, WR - Jacksonville Jaguars (Cut List Ranking No. 29)
According to The Athletic's Michael Silver, Jacksonville Jaguars rookie wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter (knee) is not thought to have suffered long-term damage to his knee after picking up an injury at practice on Thursday. Hunter was the victim of a non-contact injury late in the week. Although reports state his ACL remains intact, the Jags wasted no time sending him to IR.
It's hapless timing for the rookie, who was coming off his best performance as a pro. Fortunately, the team doesn't seem too concerned about his ailment, though Silver noted that they have no intention of rushing him back. Either way, Hunter will miss at least the next four contests with the potential to remain sidelined for a longer period. While he's sidelined, fantasy managers can expect teammates Parker Washington and Dyami Brown to pick up most of the slack behind the corps' leader, Brian Thomas Jr.
Isiah Pacheco, RB - Kansas City Chiefs (Cut List Ranking No. 36)
Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco (knee) is expected to return in Week 11, following the team's bye, according to head coach Andy Reid (via CBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson). Pacheco has already been ruled out for Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills, and he'll use the bye week as a little extra time to rest and recover.
In the meantime, Kansas City's backfield will be led by Kareem Hunt, while rookie Brashard Smith also figures to get involved. Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Elijah Mitchell round out the running back depth chart. Pacheco should rank as a high-end RB3/flex against the Broncos when he returns.
Kyler Murray, QB - Arizona Cardinals (Cut List Ranking No. 65)
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (foot), who is listed as questionable for the Monday night game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9, could be active, but in a backup role to veteran Jacoby Brissett, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero says that the people he's spoken to say that this "isn't some kind of benching" for the struggling Murray.
"It's 1,000% about health," with Murray still recovering from a foot sprain that he suffered back in the Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Brissett, who has arguably looked better than Murray as a passer in his two starts, gets a favorable matchup against a porous Dallas defense and is certainly in play as a QB2 streamer in his third start of 2025.
It remains to be seen if Murray will be able to make enough progress to play in a Week 10 divisional clash against the Seattle Seahawks.
