Week 8 Lineup Busts? Fantasy Football Players to Consider Sitting

Daniel Jones - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Andy's potential Week 8 busts, fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for players who may disappoint. You should consider benching these players in Week 8.

With bye weeks in full swing in Week 8, managers may have to consider numerous depth options when building their lineup. Even though specific players enjoyed dominant showings in Week 7, it doesn't mean they will return to elite status in Week 8.

In this piece, we will look at five players who could disappoint managers in Week 8 of the fantasy football season.

Who should fantasy managers bench in Week 8? Let's dive in!

Potential Fantasy Football Lineup Busts

Daniel Jones (IND) vs. TEN

Daniel Jones has been a QB1 for those who took him in the final rounds of their draft or grabbed him off the waiver wire. In Week 7, Jones had another impressive showing, as he tallied 288 passing yards with two scores. Through seven games, the former Giant is averaging an astounding 23.1 PPR points per game with a 14:3 TD:INT.

However, this weekend, he is projected to be a low-end QB1 instead of a high-end option. Jones and the Colts will face the struggling Tennessee Titans, who have picked up just one victory this season. However, they have been quite productive in defending opposing QBs, allowing the 12th-fewest PPR points to the position.

Instead, they have been susceptible to the run, allowing the fifth-most PPR points to the position. Expect Jonathan Taylor to lead the way in this game.

Rhamondre Stevenson (NE) vs. CLE

Rhamondre Stevenson eclipsed 16.0 PPR points for the third time this season during their victory over the Titans last week. In this game, Stevenson tallied a season-high 88 rushing yards and punched in his third rushing touchdown.

However, he will face a much tougher task this weekend, facing the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have allowed the second-fewest PPR points to opposing RBS for seven weeks. Given Stevenson's lackluster 3.6 YPC, he could be in store for significant regression in this game. He is a touchdown-dependent FLEX play.

Kimani Vidal (LAC) vs. MIN

Kimani Vidal wasted little time to make an impact as he totaled an impressive 22.8 PPR points against the Miami Dolphins in Week 6. Seeing Vidal take over the backfield suggested he would carry high-end RB2 upside while Omarion Hampton (ankle) is on the IR. However, he took a big step back in Week 7, running for just 20 yards (on nine carries) against the Colts.

Fantasy managers should not expect Vidal to bounce back in Week 8. On Thursday, Vidal and the Chargers will play host to the Minnesota Vikings, who have allowed the 12th-fewest PPR points to opposing RBs this season. Last weekend, the Vikings shut down Saquon Barkley, holding him to 44 yards.

Vidal carries high-risk FLEX value in this matchup.

Jordan Addison (MIN) vs. LAC

Unlike Vidal, Addison enters Thursday's game on an impressive streak. Since returning from his three-game suspension, Addison has quietly enjoyed a dominant start to his regular season. Addison has averaged 17.4 PPR points per game through three games with 94.3 yards per game.

Last weekend, Addison posted a season-high 128 yards on nine receptions in their loss to the Eagles. However, despite his impressive play, Addison projects to be a risky WR3 in Week 8. Currently, both Minnesota quarterbacks, J.J. McCarthy (ankle) and Carson Wentz (shoulder), are dealing with injuries and could be in danger of missing this contest.

Addison has produced primarily due to the hefty pass volume that Wentz has provided. Addison's ceiling would be much lower if Wentz were to miss this game or be limited in any capacity. Facing a potent Los Angeles secondary that has allowed the eighth-fewest PPR points to opposing WRs makes Addison a high-risk play in Week 8.

Mark Andrews (BAL) vs. CHI

Mark Andrews has been a low-end TE1 this season, but with Trey McBride, Brock Bowers, and Sam LaPorta all off in Week 8, managers may turn back to the veteran this weekend. Despite the high number of high-end TEs off the slate, Andrews is best kept out of your lineup. In Week 6, Andrews logged fewer snaps than the team's No. 2 tight end, Isaiah Likely, suggesting Baltimore may begin to increase Likely's role going forward

In addition, through six games, Andrews has only eclipsed 10.0 PPR points once and averages just 4.5 targets and 29.0 yards per game. Given his declining snap share and low target share, Andrews carries TE2 value in Week 8.
