Below are some fantasy football waiver wire outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider adding off waivers in Week 6:
Michael Carter, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Michael Carter appears poised to shoulder a significant portion of the team's backfield workload for the foreseeable future. The Cardinals are without veteran James Conner (ankle) for the remainder of the season, and second-year back Trey Benson (knee) is on Injured Reserve due to a knee injury.
In the team's first full game without both players in Week 5, Carter logged 73 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 23 total touches. In contrast, fellow Arizona running backs Emari Demercado and Bam Knight combined for just eight touches.
The Cardinals could be without starting quarterback Kyler Murray (foot) in Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts, potentially leading to a run-heavy game plan for the team. Carter profiles as a low-end fantasy RB2 in Week 6.
Rico Dowdle, RB, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Brad Idzik alluded to more of a platoon at running back after Rico Dowdle's 200-yard explosion in Week 5 against Miami, according to David Newton of ESPN. The OC said Dowdle having so much success is a "good problem to have" when Hubbard (calf) returns from injury.
Hubbard, who didn't practice on Wednesday, had been the clear top option for the Panthers, playing in 50-plus percent of the team's offensive snaps every week he appeared.
But after Dowdle went for 206 rushing yards, a touchdown, and three catches for another 28 yards, the team obviously liked what it saw. Managers should prepare for the possibility that both backs will play going forward for Carolina.
Hassan Haskins, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers running back Hassan Haskins is expected to be part of a running back-by-committee approach in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins. Haskins should see a lot of the early-down work and red-zone work, while second-year running back Kimani Vidal is expected to handle more of the pass-catching duties and third downs.
The reason for all of this is that rookie running back Omarion Hampton (ankle) was injured in Week 5 and landed on the injured reserve and will now miss the next four games. Most reports from Jim Harbaugh and the offensive coordinator Greg Roman suggest that both will see work, and the only factor making Haskins a potential flex play in Week 6 is the matchup.
The Dolphins have given up the fifth most points to the running back position. Just last week, they allowed 206 rushing yards to Rico Dowdle.
Kimani Vidal, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal is expected to be part of a running back-by-committee approach in Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins. Vidal is expected to handle more of the pass-catching duties and third-down work in an offense that has been pass-happy so far in 2025, throwing 62.58% according to teamrankings.com.
In leagues that are PPR, Vidal should carry a safer floor compared to Hassan Haskins, who is expected to have most of the early-down work and red zone carries. Most reports from Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman suggest that both Vidal and Haskins will be involved, so neither should be viewed or ranked that much higher than the other.
The Chargers take on the Dolphins in Week 6, who are currently allowing the fifth most points to the running back position, which is why Vidal is offering some flex appeal in Week 6. Fantasy managers can start him in a pinch, but if they have other stronger options, start them.
Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has recorded 13 catches for 179 yards and four touchdowns on 19 targets through four games so far this season. The Packers like to spread the ball around to multiple different players in the passing game, which is part of the reason for Doubs' middling target volume (4.75 targets per game).
Still, Doubs may be Green Bay's most reliable receiver in terms of fantasy production because he has been the team's leading snap-getter at the position in each of the team's first four games. In two full games without Packers wideout Jayden Reed (collarbone, foot), Doubs has played at least 89% of the team's offensive snaps.
Heading into a favorable Week 6 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, Doubs profiles as a low-end fantasy WR3/flex option.
