Welcome back to my buy low, sell high trade targets for Week 2 of the 2025 season. The opening week of the NFL season is complete, and that means fantasy managers are overreacting to both the good and the bad.
This opens up prime opportunities to sell players who overperformed and buy players who underperformed. The door is open for league-winning moves, so get out there and make some trade offers.

Buy-Low Trade Targets for Fantasy Football
QB: Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott underwhelmed from a fantasy perspective in Week 1’s 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He completed 21 of 34 passes for 188 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, finishing as the QB28 against one of the league’s toughest defenses.
While the stat line was disappointing, context matters. Prescott’s receivers dropped multiple passes that could have changed the outcome, including a costly late-game drop by CeeDee Lamb. The silver lining is that the Cowboys’ young offensive line held up impressively, allowing zero sacks to Philadelphia’s elite pass rush.

With a softer Week 2 matchup against the mediocre Giants’ defense, Prescott is ranked as the QB11 in RotoBaller’s weekly rankings. Expect Lamb to rebound and new addition George Pickens to get more involved. Fantasy managers should view Prescott as a strong bounce-back candidate, and his buy-low window will close after this week.
RB: Chase Brown – Cincinnati Bengals
Traditionally, the buy-low list highlights players who underperformed, but Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown looks more like a breakout star. In Week 1, Brown handled 23 attempts for 51 yards and a touchdown, finishing Week 1 as the RB21.
The efficiency wasn’t eye-popping, but the usage was elite. Brown logged 75% of the snaps (a jump from his 65% rate in 2024) and ranked fifth in expected fantasy points (18.3). He also averaged 2.52 yards after contact (10th in the NFL) and forced seven missed tackles (most in the league), despite averaging only two yards per carry.

The Bengals’ offense sputtered again in Week 1, managing just 17 points (10.8 fewer than their 2024 average) and finishing with the second-fewest yards in the NFL. Despite their continuous early-season struggles, the offensive attack should rebound quickly, and Brown is positioned to benefit in fantasy when it does.
Entering 2025, there were questions about whether Brown would command a full workload. After Week 1, those questions are answered. He’s not just the lead back, he’s shaping up as a top-tier RB1 with elite volume and upside.
WR: Calvin Ridley – Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley was a must-sit in Week 1, as he faced off against the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year, cornerback Pat Surtain II. As expected, Ridley struggled, hauling in four of eight passes for 27 yards in Week 1’s loss against the Denver Broncos.
It wasn’t the ideal game for Ridley, but Surtain is just that good. When Surtain faced Drake London, DK Metcalf, George Pickens, and Mike Evans last season, none of them had over four receptions or 30 yards in those matchups. Ridley's fantasy managers are frustrated with his fantasy output, and this is the perfect time to strike.
Pat Surtain II did not allow a catch as the nearest defender on his 34 coverage snaps for the eighth time in his career. He was targeted only once, breaking up his lone target.

Rookie quarterback Cam Ward made his NFL debut in Mile High against one of the best defenses in the NFL and was pressured on 53% of his dropbacks. Multiple former quarterbacks and even Broncos defensive players had nothing but praise for the rookie quarterback. Even with a rookie quarterback, the boost from Titans 2024 quarterback Will Levis to Ward is going to be huge for Ridley’s fantasy stock.
The Titans' star receiver enters Week 2 as the WR35 on RotoBaller’s rankings, despite being drafted as the WR27. Ridley is a great buy-low candidate after getting the Surtain game out of the way, as he looks to have his fourth 1,000-yard season in the last five years.
Sell Candidates for Fantasy Football Trades
QB: Patrick Mahomes - Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes had an uneven opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. He completed 24 of 39 passes for 258 yards and one touchdown, while adding six carries for 57 yards and another score on the ground.
Mahomes’ rushing production masked what was otherwise a mediocre passing performance by his standards. He’s never rushed for more than 75 attempts and 400 yards in a season, but his current pace projects to 102 carries for 969 yards, numbers that would rival some dual-threat quarterbacks. His legs bailed him out in Week 1, and that style of production isn’t something fantasy managers can rely on weekly.
Mahomes lost his top weapon when rookie Xavier Worthy went down on the first drive with a shoulder injury. With Rashee Rice suspended and Worthy also expected to miss extended time, Mahomes is left with a thin receiver group of Marquise Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Tyquan Thornton. That downgrade in weaponry caps his fantasy ceiling significantly.
It will be a big loss if Xavier Worthy misses an extended period of time.

Now he faces the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2, a defense that harassed him throughout their Super Bowl matchup. Given the injury concerns around his supporting cast and the upcoming schedule, Mahomes is an ideal sell-high candidate after his 25.9 fantasy points in Week 1. Managers can cash in on his name value before his fantasy production plummets.
RB: Aaron Jones Sr. – Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones entered 2025 with questions about his workload, and Week 1 provided answers fantasy managers didn’t want to see. The veteran logged just eight carries for 23 yards, while adding three receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Entering the 2025 season, the main concern around Jones' fantasy outlook was the presence of Jordan Mason. Mason handled 15 carries for 68 yards, looking more efficient and explosive. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry and 2.7 yards after contact, compared to Jones’ 2.9 YPC and 1.9 yards after contact. Simply put, Mason was the more effective runner.

Jones’ fantasy day was salvaged by a 27-yard touchdown reception on a perfect ball from rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Without that play, he would’ve finished with just five half-PPR points. Unlike the 2024 season, where Jones had over 300 attempts, his current role looks to be as a change-of-pace receiving back.
At 31 years old by season’s end, Jones is trending in the wrong direction for fantasy. The Vikings appear committed to thinning out his workload, making him a must-sell before his value dips further.
WR: Michael Pittman Jr. – Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. had a monstrous game Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Pittman caught six of eight targets for 80 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 33-8 victory in Week 1.
The Colts looked invincible against the Dolphins, thanks to an excellent performance from quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones had a 115.9 QBR, ranking as the eighth-best total in his 71-game career. Sure, Jones could be this year’s Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold, but it’s hard to deny the possibility that every passing offense will look good against the Dolphins this season.
Pittman found the endzone for just the 11th time in his last 48 games, something that has always hindered his fantasy value in the past. Pittman had a strong showing, but the crowded competition will likely hurt him this season. Rookie Tyler Warren led the team in targets in Week 1 and will be a major factor in the Colts’ passing game. While receivers Josh Downs and Alec Pierce had quiet performances, their contributions will be significant in certain games throughout the season.
Following the easy matchup in Week 1, Pittman and the Colts face Surtain and the elite Denver Broncos defense. The Broncos dominated the Titans' offense in Week 1 with rookie quarterback Cameron Ward making his debut. With a matchup with Surtain on the slate, this may be your only time to sell Pittman while his value is high.
