Colt Keith Returns as DH on Monday
Colt Keith (illness) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff for the team's Monday series opener in Sacramento against the Athletics and right-hander J.T. Ginn. Keith will return to the starting nine to begin the week after he was scratched from Sunday's lineup with an illness. He will not return to the field, but he'll be back in the batting order at Sutter Health Park. The 24-year-old has gone hitless in his last eight at-bats over his last four games at the plate, so he'll be looking to get back on track now that he's feeling better. Keith has one hit in just three career at-bats against Ginn and is slashing .261/.343/.425 on the season with 11 home runs, 39 RBI and 56 runs scored in 348 at-bats for Detroit. In 18 games in August, he's hitting a cool .304 (17-for-56) with three homers, four doubles, seven RBI and even his first stolen base of the year.
