Jacob Wilson Out for Series Opener Against Mariners
Jacob Wilson (hand) remains out of action for the A's for Monday's series opener against the division-rival Seattle Mariners in Sacramento. Max Schuemann will start at shortstop and bat eighth against Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo. Wilson is dealing with a bruised hand and is considered day-to-day, so he could return as soon as Game 2 of the series at Sutter Health Park on Tuesday. The 23-year-old former sixth overall pick has been playing through his hand injury for a few weeks now and could be a big reason why he's hit just .140 (7-for-50) with a homer and five RBI in 13 games in the month of July. Wilson, who was a first-time All-Star in 2025, is still hitting a robust .312 (115-for-369) on the year with his short, contact-oriented stroke, but fantasy managers will want to expect more regression going forward.
