Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman (quadriceps) is on the injured list with a right quad strain, but is close to returning to action. He has been doing baseball activities and was thought to be out until the All-Star break. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said this week that Bregman is "feeling great" and will have his status reassessed this weekend. Cora added that Bregman is "close to 100 percent". This is at the six-week mark of Bregman's IL stint. It is possible that Bregman could be activated from the injured list earlier than anticipated. This could impact Marcelo Mayer's playing time, and he may be sent back down or moved to second base.--Dr. Reuven Guy
