The Washington Commanders and wide receiver Terry McLaurin remain far apart in their contract negotiation. Is McLaurin in danger of missing training camp. Read the latest update
Washington Commanders star wide receiver Terry McLaurin is entering the final season of his contract and is looking to sign an extension before the start of the regular season. However, both sides remain far apart on a deal.
McLaurin has begun to express greater frustration as he did not attend the team's mandatory minicamp in June.
Will both sides agree to a deal? Or will the former Ohio State standout hold out during the 2025 season?

Contract Talks Stalled Between Commanders and Star Wideout
On Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that both sides remain far apart in negotiations and have made no progress. Schefter noted that there is "quite a gap" on both sides, which is a significant problem.

There is quite a gap between what both sides want right now and they have not made any progress"@AdamSchefter #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/pBatkLA2cs

While there is still plenty of time for both sides to agree to an extension, seeing McLaurin in danger of missing training camp later in July is not a promising sign.
Last season, the Commanders enjoyed one of their best seasons in recent history, defeating both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the top-seeded Detroit Lions en route to reaching the NFC Championship. Their team was led by rookie standout Jayden Daniels.
Throughout the regular season, Daniels leaned on McLaurin, who enjoyed a career season. The wideout tallied at least 1,000 yards for the fifth-straight campaign and found the back of the end zone an impressive 13 times, which was a career-high. He scored a touchdown in each of their playoff games as well.
While the Commanders have already improved their pass-catching room in the offseason by acquiring Deebo Samuel from the San Francisco 49ers, losing McLaurin would significantly impact their offensive output. If McLaurin were to miss time, rookie wide receiver Jaylin Lane could have a sizeable role, while Noah Brown, Michael Gallup, and Luke McCaffrey will likely see starting opportunities.
