Xander Bogaerts Scratched With Shoulder Soreness
Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) has been scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Washington Nationals at Petco Park with left-shoulder soreness, according to 97.3 The Fan's Sammy Levitt. Jose Iglesias will now slide over to shortstop and bat sixth, with Tyler Wade playing second base and hitting eighth against Nationals left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Jake Cronenworth is getting the day off. The 32-year-old Bogaerts fractured the same shoulder last year, but for now fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. With an off day coming on Thursday, he could be back in action for Friday's series opener in Cincinnati against the Reds. Bogaerts continues to fall off offensively in his third year in SD, hitting .246/.324/.344 with only four homers in 78 games, but he does have 13 stolen bases, already matching his total from a year ago.
