Frankie Montas Begins Rehab Assignment
Frankie Montas (lat) started his minor-league rehab assignment on Saturday with High-A Brooklyn, according to The Athletic's Tim Britton. Montas is likely to need close to the full 30 days for his rehab assignment before he's ready to return to the big-league starting rotation. The 32-year-old veteran has been out since suffering a high-grade right-lat strain in February. In his first rehab start over the weekend at Brooklyn, Montas only went 1 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits while walking two and striking out one. Fantasy managers will be hesitant to trust Montas in starting lineups whenever he returns to make his Mets debut after he was inconsistent with a 4.55 ERA (4.35 FIP) and 1.26 WHIP with 70 strikeouts and 25 walks in 30 starts with the Reds and Brewers a year ago.
