Alek Manoah Continues to Build Up Following Elbow Surgery
Alek Manoah (elbow) is throwing two bullpen sessions a week and has recently pushed past 40 pitches, according to The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. Manoah is currently working on getting a feel for his pitches, commanding the strike zone and simulating plate appearances and pitch sequencing after having Tommy John surgery in June of 2024. Toronto is hoping the 27-year-old can be an option for their big-league team in August. He had a disastrous 2023 season while battling mechanical issues before posting a 3.70 ERA in five starts last year. Manoah feels more in tune with his delivery during his lengthy recovery from elbow surgery, but how well he can command his pitches when he returns will be the deciding factor on whether he can be a fantasy option yet again. Manoah was an All-Star in 2022 but walked more than six batters per nine innings in 2023.
