Hunter Goodman Resting in Matinee Game
Hunter Goodman will take the day off for Monday's series opener at Wrigley Field against the hosting Chicago Cubs. Jacob Stallings will do the catching for left-hander Carson Palmquist and will hit ninth against Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon. It's a normal day of rest for Goodman, who has suddenly become a must-start fantasy catcher for the worst team in baseball. The 25-year-old former fourth-rounder in 2021 out of Memphis has contributed in all categories except stolen bases, slashing .275/.325/.451 with a .776 OPS, seven home runs, 31 RBI and 25 runs scored in 193 at-bats as Colorado's starting catcher. Expect Goodman to return for Game 2 of the series on Tuesday. Stallings will be a poor DFS choice at catcher in the nine-hole. The 35-year-old is batting just .143 with no homers and has never faced Taillon.
