Chase Burns Strikes Out 10 Batters on Sunday
Chase Burns hit the double-digit strikeout mark for the first time in his debut season on Sunday against Double-A Rocket City. In this outing, the hard-throwing right-hander struck out 10 batters across five innings of one-run ball. He allowed just three hits and did not serve up a walk. Burns opened the season with High-A but needed only 11 2/3 innings to prove he was ready for the promotion to Double-A. Through his first 29 innings at Double-A, the former No. 2 overall pick has posted an impressive 1.86 ERA with a 0.83 WHIP. During this stint, Burns has struck out 45 batters and allowed just three walks. Given his impressive debut at Double-A, the Wake Forest product should be in the mix to join Triple-A in the coming weeks. If he continues this pace, he should be in line to reach the majors in the second half of the season.
