ANALYSIS: The New York Yankees are taking a cautious approach with Jasson Dominguez, their No. 1 prospect for 2024 on MLB Pipeline, on the outfielder's way back from late-season Tommy John surgery in 2023. There was some initial hope after undergoing the procedure that Dominguez could return as a designated hitter this spring before reentering New York’s crowded outfield, but his minor league rehab assignment, which should be a lengthy one, isn’t slated to begin until the middle of May.
It still puts Dominguez on track to rejoin the major league roster in late June or early July at the latest, making him a player to consider stashing in the majority of mixed fantasy leagues at this stage of his recovery.
The 21-year-old switch-hitting power/speed threat, also known as The Martian, was taking baseball by storm following his September promotion last year, slashing a tantalizing .258/.303/.677 with four home runs, seven RBI, six runs scored, and one stolen base over eight games (31 at-bats) before his first taste of big league action came to an abrupt end.

It’s unclear how quickly the Yankees will thrust Dominguez back into the mix defensively, considering Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Alex Verdugo are everyday players, so he’ll likely have to battle with the injury-prone Giancarlo Stanton for work at DH when he makes his 2024 regular-season debut.
Even with Stanton batting only .227 with seven homers, six doubles, and 19 RBI through 119 ABs this year and offering little to nothing as a fielder, Dominguez still doesn’t set up for consistent ABs while the roster is healthy. There’s no telling if they’ll be at full strength when Dominguez is ready, however, so he should still be stashed in most formats.
