ANALYSIS: In case you missed it, Estrada broke a major league record earlier this week when he struck out 13 consecutive hitters across three relief appearances.
Estrada has been downright incredible so far this season, striking out 30 hitters over 18 frames and posting a minuscule 0.50 ERA and 0.72 WHIP.
What makes his story even more impressive is that he was picked up off waivers in the offseason after the Cubs had given up on him.

Right now, Robert Suarez (who is having his own awesome start to the season) is locked in as the Padres closer, but Estrada would be the next in line to step into save situations if Suarez is ever unavailable to pitch or if he were to go down with an injury.
Adding Estrada now makes sense as he can be a huge help in strikeouts and ratios, even if he's not accumulating saves.
