Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar (lower body) won't play against the Kings on Sunday. He was injured in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to Anaheim and will skip his first game of the season. Makar went without a point on Saturday, but he has been back to his best lately and is tied with Vancouver's Quinn Hughes for most points by a defenseman. In 23 outings, Makar has amassed seven goals and 27 assists. He also leads all Colorado skaters with 24:27 of ice time, meaning the rest of the blue line will need to put in quite a few extra shifts to compensate for the loss of Makar. Sam Malinski will replace him in the lineup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
