Colorado Avalanche defenseman Samuel Girard has entered the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. The 25-year-old has missed the past few games for personal reasons and will remain out for an indefinite period of time. In a statement, Girard admitted that he has struggled with alcohol abuse and has been suffering from severe anxiety and depression. Girard, who won the Stanley Cup with Colorado in 2022, has posted four points (one goal, three assists) in 15 games with a minus-seven rating this season. His absence has left the Avalanche without a top-four defenseman, with Josh Manson moving up in the lineup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
