The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed forward Andreas Johnsson on waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract. The 28-year-old has yet to appear in the NHL for the Penguins this season and has just three assists in 11 games for the American Hockey League's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. It appeared Johnsson was an up-and-coming youngster when he tallied 20 goals and 43 points at the age of 24 with the Maple Leafs in the 2018-19 season but played in just 13 NHL games between the Devils and Sharks last season and struggled following his signing with the Penguins this season. Given his early-career production, he is likely to receive interest on the open market but will most likely serve as organizational depth for his new team.--Brenton KempRead More News
