Washington Capitals forward Max Pacioretty believes he can return to play this season after tearing his right Achilles for the second time last season while a member of the Carolina Hurricanes. His Hurricanes tenure lasted all of five games before he re-tore the Achilles while he admitted he thought he could be forced to retire. "I do know that I have a lot of hockey left in me. There was a time where maybe I wasn't as confident in that, a time where IU didn't know if I'd ever play hockey again," the forward said. The veteran has skated three times in the past two weeks but is remains unclear when he will be able to get back into game action. A veteran of 855 career regular-season games, the 34-year-old has tallied 326 goals and 645 points with six 30-goal seasons under his belt. Various injuries have limited him to just 92 games over the last three seasons between the Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights.--Brenton Kemp
