The Tampa Bay Rays placed outfielder Luke Raley (neck) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Sept. 21) on Friday with a cervical strain and recalled top infield prospect Junior Caminero from Double-A Montgomery in a corresponding move. The Rays also designated Trevor Kelley for assignment. Raley hasn't started a game since last Saturday and reported numbness in his arm after a pinch-hitting appearance earlier this week, so this could be an injury that makes him unavailable to the Rays once the postseason starts. It would be a major loss, as the 29-year-old left-handed slugger has had a breakout season in 2023 with a .249/.333/.490 slash line, an .824 OPS, 19 home runs, 49 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 56 runs scored in 357 at-bats in his third major-league season.--Keith Hernandez
