Two weeks after his crash in the regular season finale at Daytona, Ryan Preece persevered and didn't miss any races, running the entire race in last weekend's Southern 500 en route to a 28th place finish. However, he is unlikely to run well at Kansas for a variety of reasons. The Fords in general and the Stewart-Haas cars in particular have been very slow on flat intermediates this year. That trend seems to be continuing this weekend as only one Ford qualified in the top ten for tomorrow's race. Preece himself has a speed percentile of only 25.13% on flat intermediates, ranking only 28th among Cup drivers. Additionally, he had the third slowest average lap time at Darlington indicating he may still be driving hurt. While he showed true grit getting back into the cockpit after his crash, Preece is unlikely to contend.--Sean Wrona - RotoBallerRead More News
