NASCAR Truck Series: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks for Richmond Worldwide Express 250 (7/29/23)

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to Richmond this weekend for the Worldwide Express 250. This is the final race before the Truck Series playoffs start, so there's a lot on the line.

Right now, seven drivers are locked into the playoff field, as Corey Heim, Zane Smith, Grant Enfinger, Ben Rhodes, Ty Majeski, Christian Eckes, and Carson Hocevar will battle for a title. Matt DiBenedetto, Nick Sanchez, and Matt Crafton currently hold playoff spots, but Stewart Friesen, Tanner Gray, and Chase Purdy all have a shot to get in on points. Everyone from Tyler Ankrum down needs a win to get in.

Here at RotoBaller, we want to help you make informed decisions about your DFS lineups, which is why I'll be breaking down the slates for the Craftsman Truck Series. Let's look at some NASCAR Truck Series DFS lineup picks for the Worldwide Express 250 on DraftKings. Be sure to also check out our NASCAR Premium Tools for Truck Series including our DFS Lineup Optimizer and powerful Research Station. This slate locks on 7/29/2023 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Ty Majeski - $10,700

Starting 1st

Ty Majeski hasn't won yet this season, but he was a good shot to find himself in victory lane for the first time this year in Saturday night's race.

In his lone start here in the Truck Series, Majeski led 73 laps, second only to Chandler Smith, who won the race. Majeski brought the 66 truck home third in that race, behind two drivers who won't be racing this weekend since both have graduated to the Xfinity Series.

Expect Majeski to be a contender all day. It will likely come down to him and Corey Heim, and I think Majeski's past performance here gives him the edge.

Nick Sanchez - $9,700

Starting 14th

There's some pressure on Nick Sanchez this week. After qualifying on the pole at Pocono last weekend, he had a great shot to solidify his spot in the playoffs, but he ended up finishing 19th, ending a streak of four consecutive top 10s.

He's still in one of the playoff spots right now, but he's just 21 points above the cut line. And if there's a new winner below 10th in points, he's suddenly in a tight race with Matt Crafton for the final spot.

But Pocono aside, Sanchez has been really good lately, and I have faith in his ability to step up and put forth a strong top-10 effort on Saturday. Starting 14th gives him a little place differential upside if he can manage to get back on track.

Tyler Ankrum - $8,300

Starting 21st

This Hattori team has found some speed lately, with Ankrum delivering three finishes of 12th or better in a row in this No. 16 truck. In all of those races, he finished better than he started.

In fact, that's been a trend for Ankrum all year. He's averaged a starting spot of just 17.8, putting him at a disadvantage on race day, but it's led to Ankrum's average finish being higher than his average start for the first time. (Though, his average finish is 17.5, so it's not that much higher. Still, it's a trend worth noting.)

This has also been a really good track for Ankrum. In three starts here, he has two top fives and his 13th-place result last year was his worst performance.

Taylor Gray - $8,100

Starting 19th

Gray will start 19th on Saturday night. There's some nice place differential upside here based on his recent performance. In addition to finishing third last week, Gray enters Saturday with five finishes of 15th or better in a row.

He ran really well in his only Truck Series start at Richmond, starting 24th and finishing sixth in last year's Worldwide Express 250. He was the highest-finishing Ford in this race last season.

Colby Howard - $6,600

Starting 27th

The picks get a little more speculative now. This isn't the greatest field of all time, as there are no Cup or Xfinity drivers in it. That's how, for example, we ended up with Matt Mills starting fifth.

So, in terms of grabbing some value drivers, we have to take some risks. And one risk I'm willing to take is on Colby Howard. While he's struggled this season, with his average start and finish both dropping, it's notable that the average finish hasn't dropped as far as the average start. He begins races an average of 4.6 places lower than last season but finishes them an average of 2.3 spots lower.

Howard has three top 20s in the last five races and should have a shot to gain seven to 10 spots on Saturday. Solid place differential option.

Timmy Hill - $5,800

Starting 30th

Hill will fire off 30th in this No. 56 truck, but he comes into this race with three finishes in a row of 21st or better. Like with Colby Howard, there are probably seven to 10 place differential points available here for Hill. While he struggled here last year, finishing five laps down in 31st, he's had a top 10 here before in the Truck Series, finishing ninth back in 2020.
