1 year agoTampa Bay Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen took a considerable step forward, transitioning from a reliever to a full-time starter in 2022. He owned an 11-4 record with a 2.84 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 125:38 K: BB across 146 innings. His K% dropped from 23.8% in 2021 to 21.4% in 2022, but his swinging strike rate of 12.1% suggests an uptick in strikeouts in 2023. Rasmussen is slotted to be third in the starting rotation behind Shane McClanahan and Tyler Glasnow. The 27-year-old appears to be a legitimate breakout and has the upside to be a top-30 starter if he racks up a few more starts. Rasmussen had great control over his pitches, evidenced by his 5.3 BB%, which was in the 88th percentile per Baseball Savant. ATC projections are on board, with the Rays right-hander posting another solid season, projecting Rasmussen with a 3.58 ERA, 3.69 FIP, and an 8.03 K:9 across 161 innings in 2023. Rasmussen could be a tremendous bargain at his current NFBC ADP of 178 and should provide fantasy managers with solid totals all around.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
