Frankie Montas' MRI Shows Inflammation
Frankie Montas' (shoulder) MRI exam showed inflammation and he'll receive a cortisone injection on Wednesday, according to A's trainer Nick Paparesta. Montas won't be able to make his next start, and there's not timetable set after that, but the good news is there's no structural damage in his right arm. It's ultimately a positive for the 29-year-old right-hander, but it could affect his trade value with this summer's deadline quickly approaching. Despite a 3-9 record, he's been a solid arm for fantasy managers with a 3.26 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 100 strikeouts and 24 walks in 96 2/3 innings over his 17 starts. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too surprised if he doesn't make his next start until after the All-Star break.
