Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Juwan Johnson, TE, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson bounced back in Week 7 against the Bears, catching five passes for 79 yards on seven targets. His receptions and targets were his most since Week 3 against the Seahawks. Johnson's drop-off in opportunities has coincided with Taysom Hill and Foster Moreau returning to the rotation, and that trend is likely to continue moving forward.
Johnson dealt with a neck injury in practice this week, but is healthy and ready to go for Week 8 against the Buccaneers. He remains a touchdown-dependent, boom-or-bust fantasy option in the divisional matchup.
Jake Ferguson, TE, Dallas Cowboys
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson has made a name for himself this year, emerging as one of the most consistent players on the Cowboys' offense. He has recorded at least five receptions in six of seven games this season. Even with CeeDee Lamb returning last week, Ferguson still saw seven targets and posted a 23.3% target share with the offense at full strength.
Dallas faces a tough matchup in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. Still, Ferguson could prove crucial for the Cowboys' passing attack, as Denver has shown vulnerability against the tight end position. With the Broncos expected to focus on George Pickens and Lamb, Ferguson could be in store for a productive day working underneath. He remains a top-tier fantasy tight end option in what could be a high-scoring Week 8 matchup.
David Njoku, TE, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (knee) is officially listed as questionable ahead of his Week 8 matchup against the New England Patriots. Njoku's knee injury held him out of action in a Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins, although he seems to be on the mend, logging limited practices all this week heading into the matchup vs. the Patriots.
If Njoku is able to suit up, he will take on a New England defense that is allowing the 13th-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends this season. Fantasy managers rostering Njoku will want to have a backup plan in place, as his status could come down to a game-time decision. He sets up as a high-end TE2 in fantasy if he ultimately ends up playing.
Hunter Henry, TE, New England Patriots
New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry is a strong candidate to bounce back against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8. Henry had a solid four catches for 33 yards last weekend, but he also saw a touchdown get vultured by fellow tight end Austin Hooper. The 30-year-old is the overall TE9 in PPR leagues this year, remaining a favorite target for Drake Maye on short and medium passes.
His physicality gives him an advantage in contested situations and also allows him to fight for yards after the catch. This week, his advantage could come around the goal line. Cleveland has allowed the fourth-most touchdowns to opposing tight ends in 2025, and Henry is somewhat due after not scoring one since Week 4. He's an appealing low-end TE1 who is worth starting in a game that could be more pass-heavy than expected.
Dalton Schultz, TE, Houston Texans
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (back/shoulder) was limited in practice this week, but does not have an injury designation for Week 8. The veteran tight end will likely be a big part of the passing game with Nico Collins (concussion) and Christian Kirk (hamstring) both ruled out. Last week, Schultz had a season-high nine catches for 98 yards against the Seahawks, and he has at least five catches in four straight games.
He's a solid PPR contributor even though he is averaging under 10 yards per catch on the year and hasn't found the end zone yet this season. Schultz is the TE11 in RotoBaller's Week 8 rankings, and he can be a great bye-week fill-in as a fringe TE1 this week, with both a high ceiling and a high floor since he should be lined up for plenty of volume.
