Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 7:
Matthew Stafford, QB, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford posted disappointing fantasy results in Week 6, largely due to the extreme positive game script against the Baltimore Ravens. Los Angeles won the game by running the ball and draining the clock, which meant Stafford didn't have to throw the ball much.
He also suffered from the brief exit of teammate Puka Nacua (ankle), who didn't like his normal self even when he returned. While Nacua could be sidelined against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7, Stafford is still a strong candidate to bounce back in a game that should feature more of a neutral game script.
The veteran lacks rushing upside but is still the overall QB10 in fantasy football this season. He should be rostered in all leagues at this point, so if he's still available on waivers, add him before it's too late.
Daniel Jones, QB, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones completed 22 of his 30 pass attempts for 212 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception during last Sunday's Week 6 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
He also added 20 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Jones continues to play at a high level while enjoying a career resurgence in Indianapolis. His Colts are 5-1, and he has been a top-10 fantasy quarterback, amassing 10 touchdowns and just three turnovers through six games.
The 28-year-old former New York Giants quarterback will look to keep his momentum going when he faces the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7, in what could end up being a shootout.
Justin Fields, QB, New York Jets
New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields has not thrown an interception through the first six games of his first season in the Big Apple, but he admitted on Wednesday that he has been too conservative as a passer. "I feel like I've been a little bit too conservative in a sense," Fields said. "Probably just [need to] be a little bit more aggressive.
The Jets have not won a game in 2025, and Fields took nine sacks and finished with minus-10 net passing yards against the Denver Broncos in Week 6, a franchise low and the fewest in the NFL since 1998. In addition to being 0-6, New York is 25th in scoring (20.5 points per game), and Fields could be in danger of being replaced by veteran Tyrod Taylor if things don't improve soon. Fields could look to be more aggressive in Week 7 against the Carolina Panthers, but he's likely to be without top receiver Garrett Wilson (knee).
The only WR with a greater target share this year than Wilson (33.3%) is Jaxon Smith-Njigba (37%). Fields has nowhere to go but up after his Week 6 performance, but without Wilson, he'll be more of a high-end QB2 asset in fantasy this weekend.
J.J. McCarthy, QB, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks J.J. McCarthy (ankle) and Carson Wentz (shoulder) are a bit banged up heading into the Week 7 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. McCarthy was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session.
He's working his way back from a high ankle sprain that he suffered in Week 2. This is a step in the right direction for McCarthy, but the 22-year-old still isn't 100 percent healthy. As for Wentz, he was a full participant in practice on Wednesday.
The well-traveled veteran injured his shoulder during the Week 5 win over the Cleveland Browns. It seems likely that Wentz will be under center for this Sunday's game, barring any setbacks.
Drake Maye, QB, New England Patriots
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye completed 18 of his 26 pass attempts for 261 yards, three passing touchdowns, and zero interceptions during last Sunday's Week 6 win over the New Orleans Saints. He took just one sack and was the Patriots' leading rusher with an additional 28 yards on the ground.
Maye has taken a major leap during his second pro season, ranking as a fringe top-five fantasy quarterback so far. He has scored three total touchdowns in half of his games this season, making him an impactful player for both the Patriots and his fantasy managers.
His impressive accuracy, improved decision-making, and dual-threat ability are among the factors that make Maye one of the most impressive and fastest-rising quarterbacks in fantasy football. He'll remain a mid-range QB1 option heading into a favorable Week 7 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
