Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 7:
Allen Lazard, WR, New York Jets
New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard has recorded just four catches for 24 yards on six targets across four games so far this season. Still, Lazard could have a chance to make his mark in New York now that star Jets wideout Garrett Wilson (knee) is facing a multi-week absence due to a knee injury.
Lazard missed the team's Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos due to personal reasons, so his status for Week 7 is somewhat unclear. If he's able to return to the lineup in Week 7, Lazard could be the favorite to start at wide receiver for the Jets alongside fellow veteran Josh Reynolds in a favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
In the very deepest of fantasy leagues, Lazard could be a short-term desperation flex option while Wilson is sidelined.
Michael Wilson, WR, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson has yet to crack the top 40 at his position through the first six weeks of the season. His Week 6 performance of four catches for 44 yards equated to his best finish of the year at WR41 in half-PPR formats.
To make matters worse, his average finish is WR72. In Week 7, he'll take on the Green Bay Packers, who are middle of the pack against the passing game. They have allowed at least one touchdown to opposing receivers in all but one game, but Wilson has only one touchdown in his last nine games played, dating back to last season.
With the uncertainty at quarterback as Kyler Murray (foot) is questionable again, fantasy managers can leave Wilson on the waiver wire until something drastic changes.
Josh Reynolds, WR, New York Jets
New York Jets wide receiver Josh Reynolds will get a chance to operate as the team's WR1 in this weekend's home matchup with the Carolina Panthers. Reynolds has been off the fantasy radar all season in New York's low-volume passing attack.
However, he'll have an opportunity to shine this Sunday with teammate Garrett Wilson (knee) battling a hyperextended knee. While Wilson is officially listed as doubtful, it's expected that he will be unavailable in Week 7, leaving Reynolds and tight end Mason Taylor as the Jets' primary pass catchers outside of running back Breece Hall.
Even with the suspected bump in usage, the 30-year-old remains a lower-end option for fantasy, landing as RotoBaller's PPR WR47 for his outing with Carolina.
Jaylin Lane, WR, Washington Commanders
With Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) ruled out for his fourth consecutive game and Deebo Samuel Sr. (heel) now also ruled out, Washington Commanders rookie wide receiver Jaylin Lane could be in line for increased opportunities in Week 7 against Dallas.
The rookie caught one of two targets for 37 yards in Week 6 against Chicago, beating Bears' cornerback Tyrique Stevenson on a beautiful double move for an explosive gain down the sideline. He was schemed up on an end-around last week as well, which went for seven yards. Lane has the speed to beat corners vertically and the dynamic ability to make plays with the ball in his hands on designed touches. With Samuel out, there's a decent probability that we see Lane get a lot of the manufactured touches to get the ball in his hands.
The fourth-rounder out of Virginia Tech had only a 34.3% route share in Week 6, but that will be expected to tick up in Week 7. Lane should see plenty of opportunities against a Dallas defense that allows the most PPR points per game to opposing wide receivers. He’s a viable flex option in Washington’s uncertain passing attack for Week 7.
Kendre Miller, RB, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints running back Kendre Miller recorded eight carries for 21 yards and added one reception for 11 yards in Week 6's loss to the Patriots.
His 2.6 yards per carry wasn't surprising, as New England allows just 83.5 rushing yards per game, the fourth-best mark in the league. Before this contest, Miller had logged double-digit touches in back-to-back games, totalling 114 yards and a touchdown.
He'll look to get back on track against a Bears defense surrendering 156.4 rushing yards per game, the second-worst mark in the league. Miller is still fighting for a consistent role in the offense, but the favorable matchup gives him some Flex appeal in Week 7.
