Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 12:
Xavier Worthy, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy (ankle) is officially questionable to play in Week 12 against the Indianapolis Colts as he battles an ankle injury. However, Pete Sweeney of The Kansas City Star reports that "all indications this week were that (Worthy) is trending in the right direction."
Worthy was able to practice in full on Friday after starting the week as a non-participant in practice. Across eight games this season, the 22-year-old has recorded 27 receptions for 281 yards and one touchdown on 45 targets.
It's been a particular struggle of late for Worthy, as he's recorded at least five catches or 50 receiving yards just once in his last five games. If active against Indianapolis, Worthy profiles as a low-end fantasy WR3 in Week 12.
Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley set his season high for attempts last week against the Lions, carrying the ball 26 times for 83 yards. Given the opportunities, it wasn't a very productive game for Barkley and he'll try to turn things around this weekend against the Cowboys.
One of his four rushing touchdowns this season came against Dallas in Week 1-a game where he also accounted for four catches and 84 total yards. The Cowboys have had trouble stopping the run this year, allowing 11 touchdowns through 10 games as well as giving up an average of 131.4 yards on the ground in those contests.
They also allow the fifth-most fantasy points to RBs. The Eagles clearly trust Barkley to handle heavy workloads at this point in the season, giving him 62 rush attempts over the last three games, which should make managers optimistic about possible boom performances going forward. Consider him a solid RB1 in Week 12.
Derrick Henry, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry broke his two-game touchdown drought in his team's Week 11 win over the Cleveland Browns. Henry rushed for 103 yards and a score on 18 carries and added two catches for 19 yards on two targets.
The 31-year-old has now recorded 807 rushing yards and seven touchdowns across 10 games so far this season. In the three games since Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson returned from the hamstring injury that sidelined him for over a month, Henry is averaging 99 rushing yards per game.
With Baltimore getting back to its winning ways and the offense finding itself in more favorable game scripts, Henry looks to be back to his old self. He profiles as a must-start fantasy running back heading into a Week 12 matchup against the New York Jets.
Jaylen Warren, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren (ankle) was a full participant in Friday's practice session and doesn't have an injury designation heading into Sunday's matchup against the Chicago Bears, per Mike DeFabo of The Athletic.
Warren made steady progress throughout the week as he began the week with a DNP on Wednesday before being upgraded to limited on Thursday and ultimately clearing the injury report by Friday. The 27-year-old injured his ankle during Pittsburgh's win over the Bengals in Week 11, but said that he could have re-entered the game if the team needed him to. Kenneth Gainwell went off while Warren was sidelined, collecting a season-high seven catches for 81 yards with two touchdowns.
Gainwell has been more involved recently, and he could continue to see more work with how productive he's been and with Warren banged up, but Warren is still the Steelers' best back and can be started as an RB2 for Week 12 against the Bears.
Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are going through a rough patch right now, but Justin Jefferson remains a WR1 candidate when the team travels to Green Bay in Week 12. The Vikings are averaging just 58 plays during their past three games with quarterback J.J. McCarthy, during which the offense has been a mess of drops, penalties, and bad throws.
Through all of it, Jefferson still ranks 13th overall among PPR receivers, and he's still earned at least nine targets in seven straight games. Green Bay ranks ninth overall against half-PPR receivers, presenting a difficult matchup for an offense already struggling.
But even as the Vikings appear committed to riding with McCarthy's ups and downs, Jefferson is still a superstar who should be in fantasy lineups come Sunday.
