While everyone wants to talk about the new hot rookie running backs, the veterans have been the story of the 2024 season.
While Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, and Joe Mixon have been three of the top running backs in fantasy football, Nick Chubb, Najee Harris, and D'Andre Swift are having solid years.
Which veteran running back should fantasy players start in Week 14? Let’s break it down.
Should I Start Nick Chubb For Fantasy Football?
Chubb missed the first six games this season, recovering from an awful knee injury he suffered last year. The veteran is the RB51 for the season, averaging nine half-point PPR fantasy points per game. However, he has played well lately.
The star running back has had 80 rushing yards, two touchdowns, 25 receiving yards, and a score over the past two weeks, averaging 15 fantasy points per game, totaling 11.5 or more in both contests. Chubb faces a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that gave up two touchdowns and 18.5 fantasy points to him two weeks ago.

Should I Start Najee Harris For Fantasy Football?
While fantasy players wish the Pittsburgh Steelers would bench Harris for Jaylen Warren, the former Alabama star remains the starting running back. He is the RB21 for the year, averaging 12.2 half-point PPR fantasy points per game and scoring four rushing touchdowns over his past seven contests.

When Harris faced the Browns two weeks ago, the veteran averaged only 2.6 yards per rushing attempt. More importantly, he scored only 6.4 fantasy points while seeing Warren score the team’s only rushing touchdown. While fantasy players should start Harris over Warren, I would try to avoid both this week.
Should I Start D'Andre Swift For Fantasy Football?
Swift didn’t practice on Wednesday because of a quad injury. However, he should play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. The veteran running back has played well this season, ranking as the RB19 for the year, averaging 12.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
While Swift has five rushing touchdowns in 2024, he has only one over the past five weeks. Hopefully, that changes in Week 14 against the 49ers. San Francisco has surrendered at least one rushing touchdown to running backs in 75% of their games, including five over the past two contests.
