Who Should I Draft? Jaylen Warren, Jordan Mason, Jaydon Blue Fantasy Football Outlooks (2025)

Jaylen Warren - Fantasy Football Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

Should I draft Jaylen Warren, Jordan Mason, or Jaydon Blue in 2025 fantasy football? Thunder Dan Palyo's fantasy football outlooks and draft advice for RBs.

When trying to determine who to take in your fantasy football draft at the running back position in the middle rounds between Jaylen Warren, Jordan Mason, and Jaydon Blue, it's important to weigh each player's role, potential workload, and team dynamics.

Each running back offers different strengths. Warren is an elite pass-catching back, while Jordan Mason showed burst between the tackles last season in San Francisco. Jaydon Blue is just a rookie, but he is already making a name for himself in camp and could compete for the starting job in Dallas before long.

Understanding how each player fits into their respective offensive schemes and what role they are most likely to take on this year will help you make the best choice for your fantasy roster, whether you're looking for a high-ceiling option or a more dependable contributor. So, which of these running backs should you draft in 2025?

Jaylen Warren Fantasy Football Outlook

  • NFFC ADP: 99
  • Baller Move: 86

Is this the year that Warren finally breaks out? His supporters would lead you to believe that it is, and Warren is officially starting to become a popular "bounceback" candidate after he failed to meet expectations for those who drafted him in 2024.

Warren was hampered by injuries last season, but still managed to average 4.3 yards an attempt on the ground and 8.2 yards per attempt as a receiver. His fantasy stock was held down by his volume of touches and lack of touchdowns (just one on the year).

But Najee Harris is now in San Diego, and his replacement, rookie Caleb Johnson, has struggled picking up pass protection in camp. Warren is an excellent pass blocker and should make for a nice safety valve for Aaron Rodgers, who, at his age, can no longer scramble out of the pocket.

While Johnson should eventually eat into Warren's carries as a runner, it's his value as a pass-catcher that is the most appealing, especially in PPR formats. He's proven to be very effective on a per-touch basis in his career, but just how good this Steelers offense will be remains to be seen. If the Steelers struggle to move the ball this year, then Warren's fantasy value will suffer, and there's still plenty of uncertainty as far as how much of the workload he will take on, as the Steelers also brought in a similar style of back in Kenneth Gainwell.

Jordan Mason Fantasy Football Outlook

  • NFFC ADP: 112
  • Baller Move: 87

Mason showed off his talent last season when he filled in for Christian McCaffrey as the feature back for the 49ers. He got to run behind a very good offensive line, but still caught a lot of people's attention when he averaged 5.2 yards per carry and amassed 789 yards rushing total.

Now he's in Minnesota and expected to be "a massive part" of their offense this season, per head coach Kevin O'Connell. With only the aging veteran Aaron Jones ahead of him on the depth chart, Mason is again just one injury away from being a feature back, and we know Jones has had his fair share of ailments during his career.

The Vikings seem as if they want to split the touches between Mason and Jones, perhaps to keep Jones healthy for the entire season. Mason is more likely to take on the work between the tackles, while Jones should get both early down work and plenty of targets as a receiver. Mason's physical running style may also allow him to earn the role of the goalline back, too, which would only enhance his fantasy value further.

With a rookie quarterback under center in Minnesota, don't be surprised if we see them run the ball more this season, especially early. And if they are true to their word, we may see Mason get enough touches to have RB2/FLEX value right out of the gate, even without an injury to Jones.

Jaydon Blue Fantasy Football Outlook

  • NFFC ADP: 164
  • Baller Move: 139

To be fair, Blue is in a whole different ADP range from both Mason and Warren, so it's not as if you have to choose between him and the others; you could likely draft one of the first two backs and also take a flyer on Blue with a later pick.

The rookie has turned some heads in camp and was drawing rave reviews from the coaches before getting dinged up with a bone bruise this week. The good news is that he avoided serious injury and that he shouldn't miss much time, but he will still likely start out the year behind veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders on the depth chart.

I do think he's more explosive and versatile than either of those backs and that it's likely only a matter of time until he finds his way onto the field for more snaps. With the Cowboys looking like they could be potentially a pass-first offense, Blue's skills as a pass-catcher and speed in the open field could vault him into the mix for touches ahead of the other two backs.

He's a wild card, but we have seen plenty of other rookie running backs find success in their first season, so a big year (particularly a big second half) is firmly within the range of outcomes here.

Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?

I think the answer to that question ultimately depends on what you are looking for in the middle rounds of the draft at the running back position. Warren's involvement in the passing game should give him a solid floor, but the presence of Caleb Johnson and Kenneth Gainwell in the running back room may limit his upside as well as his diminutive build. He's never been able to handle the amount of touches we expect from an RB1 and stay healthy, so the Steelers may limit his touches to keep him healthy.

So the safer pick is Jaylen Warren, but I love the upside of Jordan Mason. He could push Aaron Jones for more touches in Minnesota if he ignites the running game with his dynamic running style and physicality. And a Jones injury would instantly make him a top option as he would assume the lead back role.

Jaydon Blue brings upside of his own, but can be taken at least 2-3 rounds later. I think his skills fit well with what Dallas wants to do, and neither Javonte Williams nor Miles Sanders are serious threats in the long term, as both have failed to stay healthy or meet expectations in recent years. If you draft Blue, remain patient as it may take a few weeks for him to get going, but he could be a big help down the stretch when we need fantasy points the most!
