Pittsburgh Pirates' top prospect, Bubba Chandler, has been one of the best pitchers down in Triple-A this season. Chandler currently sits at the top as the top pitching prospect in baseball and the No. 2-ranked overall prospect in the sport on MLB.com.

Given how well he has pitched, his time in the big leagues should be coming very soon. He has dominated at Triple-A over the past two seasons and has proven he is more than ready to face major league hitters.

Bubba Chandler Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball

In his most recent outing, the hard-throwing right-hander tossed five shutout innings against Triple-A Nashville. In this outing, Chandler allowed just four hits and one walk. He struck out eight. This was an excellent start for Chandler as he dealt with command issues throughout May.

During his last four starts (18 1/3 innings) leading up to this most recent outing, the right-hander allowed 13 free passes and held a modest 3.44 ERA. However, this most recent outing suggests that Chandler has gotten himself back on track and snapped out of this minor skid.

Before this cold stretch, Chandler posted a 1.42 ERA with a 0.67 WHIP and a 36:7 K:BB over his first 25 1/3 innings.

Last season, Chandler made his Triple-A debut and logged 39 1/3 innings to the tune of a 1.83 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. 

Bubba Chandler Outlook for Fantasy Baseball

While Chandler has continued to impress at Triple-A, when should fantasy managers expect the budding ace to get the call to the majors? The Pirates recently promoted Mike Burrows to the majors to fill the final spot in the rotation.

However, Burrows has struggled during his first two MLB appearances this season. Across 8 1/3 innings, Burrows has allowed nine runs (eight earned) with a 5:4 K:BB.

As a result, fantasy managers should continue to view Chandler as a must-stash option in all leagues. He carries elite strikeout potential and would likely be given a permanent spot in the rotation as soon as he gets the call. If you have an open spot on your bench, make sure Chandler is not available on your waiver wire.
