When is Andrew Painter getting called up? Will Painter get promoted in July 2025? Read about this top fantasy baseball prospect outlook heading into Week 15.
Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Painter has battled numerous injuries during his minor league career, but is quickly approaching his MLB debut.
Painter recently earned the call to Triple-A and has been showcasing high strikeout upside at the level, suggesting his MLB debut could be right around the corner.
Should fantasy managers continue to stash Painter on their bench? When should fantasy managers expect him to get the call? Let's dive in!
Andrew Painter Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
In his most recent outing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Painter struck out seven batters across five innings. He allowed four runs, seven hits, and just one free pass. Over his last four starts (19 1/3 innings), Painter has posted a 3.72 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP. During this stretch, the right-hander has struck out 23 batters and allowed only eight walks.
This is an excellent sign for the budding ace, as he posted a significantly higher 5.19 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP through his first 26 innings at the Triple-A level.
Seeing Painter continues to not only show higher strikeout upside but also strong overall production, suggesting he is nearing the end of his development at Triple-A.
Andrew Painter’s final line tonight:
5IP, 7H, 4R, 4ER, 1BB, 7K. 95 pitches, 65 strikes.
Gave up all four runs in the 4th inning.
Topped at 99 mph. Struck out the side in the third and had good amount of swings and misses.
Still a work in progress coming back from Tommy…

Andrew Painter Outlook for Fantasy Baseball
Earlier this season, Phillies manager Rob Thomson noted that Painter was not expected to be in the mix to join the majors until July. While he will likely not get the call until after the All-Star break, his recent success could change their mind.
Currently, Aaron Nola (ankle) is on the 60-day IL and has not made much progress. Young right-hander Mick Abel has taken his spot in the rotation but has struggled to find consistency during his first taste of the big leagues. Through 25 innings, he has held a high 5.04 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP.
Given Painter's elite strikeout upside and path to have a spot in the starting rotation during the entire second half, he is worth stashing in all standard leagues heading into Week 15.
Will Mick Abel stay in the rotation? Could Andrew Painter replace him?
“We haven’t talked about it, and I haven’t talked to Mick either. I’m not sure how he’s feeling. I’m sure he’s disappointed, but we’ll talk about it.” -Rob Thomson
