Week 10 DFS GPP Value Plays For FanDuel And DraftKings

Brandon Murchison analyzes optimal DFS value plays for tournaments for Week 10 of the NFL season. These GPP value plays are worth considering on FanDuel and DraftKings daily fantasy sports games.

Week 9 in DFS seemed to be the week where chalk plays prevailed. The well-known players with prime matchups came through in big ways. Lineups with Russell Wilson, Christian McCaffrey, and Mike Evans brought home loads of money with their high scoring efforts. But outside of the obvious plays, we once again were served with solid plays from the lesser-known players. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Devin Singletary, and Jamison Crowder were players that weren't exactly on fantasy owner's radars but were the longshot plays it takes to make money in DFS. It takes the mixture of high-cost players with the undervalued each week to hit it big but finding the right combination can drive some owners mad. This speaks to the importance of being smart to the matchups and having a keen eye for players that will not be heavily targeted.

As we get into Week 10, it's shaping up to yet another chalk-play type of week. With many of the big names locked into matchups that they should easily take advantage of. But the key yet again will be for owners to dive deep down the board to find those diamonds in the rough to hit it big this week. It happens every week and it may be a guy that we scroll right past, but the smarter you are by studying the matchups and player usage, it comes in handy before you submit the final lineups. The difference you see between QB2 to QB11 may not be much on paper, but those few extra yards or even extra score makes all the difference between cashing or not. For me, that is how I fill out my lineups every week. I identify my top QB matchup, then begin to fill out my team based on matchups to attack and not specifically pay attention to my salary constraints. It seems to be a winning strategy.

So what are some of the under the radar plays that can help you cash in this weekend? That is what we look to identify in the Week 10 Sneaky Plays for DFS.

Week 10 Quarterback Value Play for GPPs

Ryan Tannehill vs. Kansas City Chiefs ($7,200 FanDuel, $5,100 DraftKings)

Since being installed as the starting QB for the Titans, he has been a rather serviceable option in fantasy. He has exceeded 300 yards passing in two out of his last three games and is averaging two TDs over that span. In Week 10, he gets a prime matchup against a Chiefs Defense that is among the league's worst in points allowed to the position (20.0 FPPG). This defense is coming off of two straight games allowing three touchdown passes to opposition and Tannehill is playing with enough confidence to take advantage of this secondary at home. He should push to finish as a Top 12 QB this week and will be a low-priced option in DFS that will allow you to spend money wisely elsewhere.

Week 10 Running Back Value Plays for GPPs

Ronald Jones vs. Arizona Cardinals ($6,300 FanDuel, $4,300 DraftKings)

In what could be called a massive upset, the Buccaneers coaching staff decided to feature Jones in Week 9. What did he do with that opportunity? Oh, only 18 carries for 67 yards and a score. Now with Bruce Arians saying that he has earned the right to start, he also gets a solid matchup at home against a Cardinals Defense that is currently allowing 18.7 FPPG against opposing RBs. With the momentum Jones has going, I could see him pushing 100 yards in this game and being a player that should be locked in as a Flex play in your lineups.

Matt Breida vs. Seattle Seahawks ($6,000 FandDuel, $4,900 DraftKings)

Coming off a solid game in Week 9 (15 carries for 78 yards), Breida will be matched up against a Seahawks Defense that has been soft against the run as of late. The defense ranks as one of the better units in the league against opposing backs (17.8 FPPG) but have allowed seven scores in the last five games. With the 49ers insistence on establishing the running game, it is feasible that both Tevin Coleman and Breida will both be good plays in this matchup. Look for Breida to accumulate around 100 total yards in this game while also finding the end-zone. He will be a player that you could slide into your RB2 spot for a cheap price that could prove to return the value easily.

Week 10 Wide Receiver Value Plays for GPPs

Robert Woods @ Pittsburgh Steelers ($6,900 FanDuel, $5,600 DraftKings)

Woods has been inconsistent at best throughout much of the 2019 season. His targets (60) and receptions (38) are down from where they were a season ago. That can be contributed to the up and down play from Jared Goff. But that could see a change in Week 10 in a matchup against a Steelers secondary that is bottom third in points allowed to the position (23.6 FPPG). The defense has given up multiple scores in two straight games and with the absence of Brandin Cooks, the target share for Woods should see an increase. With the uptick in volume, Woods should put forth a fine effort in this game. Look for six catches for 95 yards and a score here, making him a viable option as a WR3 in DFS. A player that should go overlooked by many owners, giving you a leg up on the competition.

Christian Kirk @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($5,700 FanDuel, $5,200 DraftKings)

Kirk has been a solid producer throughout most of the 2019 season until the injury bug hit, costing him three straight games. He returned in Week 8 with eight catches in that game but the tough matchup in Week 9 against the 49ers saw him only bring two catches. That will be very different in Week 10 against a Buccaneers secondary that is coming off of an embarrassing performance in Seattle last week. With both D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett both having great days against this team, I am looking for Kyler Murray and this offense to attack the secondary early and often. Also, with the fact that the Cardinals running game will likely struggle in the matchup against one of the better defenses against the run, moving the ball through the air will be a must. Kirk should see a heavy dose of targets and could be in store for a big day. Expect to see him bring in six catches in the matchup and don't be shocked if he scores in this game. He's a candidate for your WR3 in Week 10 and will likely be an overlooked player in DFS.

Week 10 Tight End Value Play for GPPs

Jack Doyle vs. Miami Dolphins ($5,200 FanDuel, $3,600 DraftKings)

Although Doyle hasn't been exactly causing tons of excitement among the fantasy community in 2019, his last two games have been worthy of low-end TE1 consideration. With seven catches and a score over the last two weeks, Doyle has been at least consistent. Heading into a Week 10 matchup with the lowly Dolphins Defense, he could become an integral part of the offense. The Colts will be without T.Y. Hilton and now Parris Campbell in the receiving core, meaning the team will lean more heavily on the tight ends. I'm not expecting a huge statistical day out of Doyle, but another four catch day with a score is just good enough to plug him in as a low-cost TE option in DFS this week.
