NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 4/28/23

The 2022-2023 National Hockey League regular season has come and gone. We had our fair share of surprise teams failing and succeeding, as well as, a few big trade splashes throughout the season. With the closure of the regular season, we welcome another run of postseason play and content. During the playoffs it is much more common to find low-scoring and heavy hitting games. Keep in mind teams that showcase a high aptitude to score goals, will play much tighter and be a bit pickier with their shots. Tonight we have a 4-game slate with no teams playing on a back-to-back. The currently live top-3 highest implied team totals are: Boston with 3.8, Colorado with 3.4 and New York with 2.9. I will do my best to guide you through this four-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Vegas Odds for the Day

Playoff Series Standings:

Carolina Hurricanes 3 at New York Islanders 2

Boston Bruins 3 at Florida Panthers 2

Dallas Stars 3 at Minnesota Wild 2

Colorado Avalanche 2 at Seattle Kraken 3

Goalies

Philipp Grubauer - DK $7.4K || FD $7.4K

Opponent - Colorado Avalanche

Grubauer and company have made it into this article just one other time and it was for their home debut in the postseason where they managed to lose 6-4. Now in a much more important game back at home, Seattle has the chance to clinch their first-ever postseason series, by eliminating the reigning champions, the Colorado Avalanche. Of all goalies to play 3 or more games in the playoffs, Grubauer is the sixth-best in Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60 – 0.481 –. Averaging a 0.900 Save Percentage in the playoffs and playing against his old team at home, everything aligns for Grubauer to backstop Seattle to their first series win in franchise history.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Oettinger (DK $7.8K || FD $7.9K), Bobrovsky (DK $7K || FD $7.3K)

Centers

Nathan MacKinnon - DK $10.1K || FD $10.2K

Opponent - Seattle Kraken

The Avalanche have their backs up against the boards with two games left in the series and needing two wins to advance and survive the Kraken onslaught. Colorado is currently down Valeri Nichushkin as he battles with personal issues following reports, however, Cale Makar will be back from his one-game suspension for the hit on Seattle winger/center, Jared McCann. This leaves Colorado with Makar, Rantanen and MacKinnon as their core to lead this team to the next round. MacKinnon has been slipping up lately as the pressure gets to him and calls do not go his way. However, he is still producing elite numbers with 3 goals, 3 assists, 24 shots and 8 blocked shots in 5 games this series. If Colorado are to move on, the top line center will be at the forefront of any scoring.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Hintz (DK $7.1K || FD $7.8K), Coyle (DK $4.3K || FD $4.2K)

Wings

Tyler Seguin - DK $5.9K || FD $5.1K

Opponent - Minnesota Wild

Seguin keeps making the articles and he continues to impress. The center/winger has thrived on the top line with Jason Robertson and Roope Hintz. In 5 games this series, he has 4 goals, 1 assist, 20 shots and 2 blocked shots. This trio has potentially some of the best chemistry on a single line in the playoffs. Dallas is in a series-clinching scenario tonight in Minnesota and it would not be surprising to see this line score two or three goals.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Bertuzzi (DK $5.2K || FD $5.3K), Kartye (DK $2.9K || FD $3.5K)

Defense

Ryan Pulock - DK $4.1K || FD $4K

Opponent - Carolina Hurricanes

Pulock and the Islanders managed to survive another game with a 3-2 win against the Hurricanes on Tuesday. In that game, the defender had 1 shot and 2 blocked shots. Known for his shot-blocking ability and his peripheral play, Pulock will be a big part of the Islanders’ blueline moving forward, especially in a do-or-die scenario at home. In the 5 games against the Hurricanes, he has 1 goal, 2 assists, 11 shots and 13 blocked shots.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Orlov (DK $4.7K || FD $4.4K), Suter (DK $3.2K || FD $3.9K)
