NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/15/22

After a short slate on Monday, we will revisit our favorite 9+ game slates with a few prime matchups. There will not be any teams playing on a back-to-back. The currently live top-3 highest implied team totals are: Vegas with 4.2, Florida with 3.9 and New Jersey with 3.7 goals. I will do my best in guiding you through this nine-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Vegas Odds for the Day

NHL DFS Goalies

Felix Sandstrom- DK $7.6K || FD $8.5K

Opponent - Columbus Blue Jackets

If Sandstrom does truly suit up against the Blue Jackets he will be an under-the-radar play in net. Sandstorm has not been the most ideal candidate to backstop the Flyers, coming in as the 23rd worst keeper in Goals Saved Above Expected Per 60 – -0.305 –. Luckily, he is playing the Blue Jackets who like to pump volume on the net with low-quality shots – 18th in Shots For Per 60 & 27th in Scoring Chances For Per 60 –. Keep in mind that the Jackets lost Patrick Laine to an ankle injury for a few weeks, hampering their offense even more. This is an ideal spot start for Sandstorm to maintain value and get a win.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Schmid (DK $8.3K || FD $7.9K), Oettinger (DK $7.2K || FD $8.3K)

NHL DFS Centers

Dylan Larkin-DK $7.2K || FD $8.2K

Opponent - Anaheim Ducks

Larkin is somehow staying consistent and successful with a carousel of players rotating through his left-wing. The top-line pivot has 1 goal, 3 assists, 15 shots and 2 blocked shots over his last five appearances. Over the season, he is riding a point-per-game pace with 7 goals, 10 assists and 43 shots through 15 games. To cap it off, the Ducks are a terrible defensive unit: worst in Goals Against Per 60 – 4.38 – and Shots Against Per 60 – 38.42 – and second-worst in Scoring Chances Against Per 60 – 35.09 –. Larkin will likely garner a heavy amount of ownership as one of the top center options on the slate.

Sidney Crosby- DK $7.3K || FD $7.6K

Opponent - Toronto Maple Leafs

Crosby will get to entertain ex-teammate Matt Murray in his return to the crease on Tuesday night. The center has somewhat cooled off after a hot start to the season with just 1 goal, 3 assists, 7 shots and 5 blocked shots over his last five games. Fortunately for Crosby, Murray was horrific in his first and only start of the season as a Maple Leaf and their defense has not improved. Crosby may not see as much ownership as typical due to his lack of form, but this is the perfect matchup for a ceiling game.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Hughes (DK $7.4K || FD $8K), Zegras (DK $6.1K || FD $6.5K)

NHL DFS Wings

Emil Bemstrom- DK $2.8K || FD $3.4K

Opponent - Philadelphia Flyers

Despite Felix Sandstrom being highlighted, we will also take a look at the Jackets’ side of the ice with Bemstrom. The winger has yet to disappoint this season when analyzing his production for the Blue Jackets. In 2 games, he has 1 goal, 1 assist, 8 shots and 1 blocked shot. As aforementioned, the Jackets love to shoot and clearly, Bemstrom is a big part of that, averaging 4 shots a game. With teammate Patrik Laine on the shelf for a bit of time, Bemstrom has been elevated to the top-line with teammates Johnny Gaudreau and Boone Jenner. This is the perfect opportunity for the winger to cement a spot in the NHL and a perfect opportunity for us to take advantage of his extremely low salary.

Jason Zucker- DK $4.1K || FD $5.9K

Opponent - Toronto Maple Leafs

Are the Penguins finally seeing the real Jason Zucker? Is their massive payment for the winger finally paying off? Zucker is on a crazy streak of form right now, amassing 3 goals, 3 assists and 17 shots over his last five appearances. With the Penguins’ top-line struggling, Zucker has been carrying a heavy part of their offense lately and he has also ignited teammate Evgeni Malkin too – 2 goals, 4 assists and 9 shots in that same period –. Aforementioned, Matt Murray has not settled in yet as a Toronto Maple Leaf and his defense has not helped any netminder thus far. This is an ideal spot in a fast-paced matchup on Tuesday night.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Tippett (DK $4.3K || FD $5.5K), Raymond (DK $4.2K || FD $5.1K)

NHL DFS Defensemen

Aaron Ekblad- DK $5K || FD $4.9K

Opponent - Washington Capitals

Ekblad was a welcomed site for sore eyes after the Panthers struggled while their top defenseman was out with an injury for a month. In his first game back over the weekend, he managed 3 shots and 2 blocked shots in a 4-2 defeat to the Edmonton Oilers. Not only have the Panthers struggled defensively, but they have also struggled offensively too. This will be a great spot for Ekblad to rack up a plethora of peripherals in hopes that he can also get at least a point against the shoot-happy Capitals.

Jake Bean- DK $3.2K || FD $3.9K

Opponent - Philadelphia Flyers

Depending on DraftKings’s salary generator, it is only a matter of time before Bean’s salary spikes. FanDuel is more prone to adjusting salaries on the regular, but DraftKings seems to do it only if they are scoring. Either way, Bean is an absolute steal. With teammate Zack Werenski out for the remainder of the season, Bean has been selected to quarterback the top powerplay for the Blue Jackets. There is no time like the present for Bean to finally announce himself to the world after falling out of favor with his draft team, the Carolina Hurricanes. In the game and a quarter that he has taken over, Bean has 2 assists, 3 shots and 7 blocked shots. Moving forward we should continue to see a mix of peripherals as well as a spike in points. This is a prime spot at a generous salary.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Seider (DK $5.5K || FD $5.7K), Pettersson (DK $4.1K || FD $5K)
