The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defense is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for the D/ST position. Target them as a free agent add off waivers for Week 18 of the 2023 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Start in All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: D/ST1
ANALYSIS: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers D/ST hasn’t been an appealing option for fantasy players. They are the D/ST21 for the year, averaging only 5.8 fantasy points per game. While they haven’t been elite for fantasy players, the Buccaneers have one of the best run defenses in the NFL.
They have held running backs to only 15.7 half-point PPR fantasy points per game this season, the third-fewest in the league. However, their pass defense has struggled, especially in the secondary. The one player who has shined in pass defense is Devin White.
The former LSU star missed a few games earlier this season but has been outstanding when on the field. White has allowed the lowest passer rating among linebackers with at least 30 targets this year.
What makes the Buccaneers D/ST an appealing option in Week 18 is their matchup against the Carolina Panthers. While the Panthers have nothing to play for this weekend, Tampa Bay can secure the NFC South division title with a win.
More importantly, opposing D/STs have averaged 11.5 fantasy points per game against Carolina this season, the third-most in the NFL. The Buccaneers D/ST is an excellent option in season-long leagues and DFS tournament lineups.
